Myrtle Beach, S.C.-Nov. 14th

I've never been there before, but will be the week before Thanksgiving. It's for my job, and I still can't get over the fact my boss is giving me an all-expenses paid trip to ANYPLACE that has a Margaritaville AND Hooters.

but he's making up for it the first two weeks of December by sending me to Little Rock F'ing ARKANSAS! :x

We went to Cherry Grove (North Myrtle) last July. I took the family to Margaritaville for lunch and missed Jimmy by two @$%*&! hours! And that just happened to be the one and only time he went into the MB location :-?

I could take a detour on the way home.
I'll be driving there-which my employers DON'T like me to do because they have to give me TWO extra travel days and PAY me for them. :D
I figure it doesn't hurt to push my luck once in a while. 8)

A trip to Myrtle Beach sounds great. Even in November it should be pleasantly warm. I don't know if you swing a club, but I understand they have golf courses there.

There used to be a great little dive in North Myrtle (or maybe that's just the north part of Myrtle Beach proper) called the Oyster Bar. It was a storefront joint with good food, great beer, and live music. (This was a long time ago. I hope it's still there.)

Take only pictures, leave only wide-eyed tales of plunder and pillage.
(Have fun.)

Myrtle Beach is a tourist trap but some folks seem to like that. Never figured out why. North of there the beaches aren't nearly as developed and there's nary a Margaritaville, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Planet Hollywood, etc. in sight...

Thanks, bravedave, I will.
And thanks, Jahfin-it'll be rough, but I'll give it everything I have and TRY with all my strength to have a good time. It'll be tough, but I do enjoy a challenge.

That's cool, I've just never seen the attraction of getting away from it all especially when the beach in question is one like Myrtle which has more in common with a big city than an actual beach. I guess I'm just accustomed to my own area that has yet to be taken over by the likes of Margaritaville, Planet Hollywood, and all the other "touristy" places that dominate Myrtle Beach.

A historic city with lovely neighborhoods, fine museums and scenic parks, Little Rock welcomes visitors from around the world.

Re-live the first days of Arkansas' statehood at the oldest surviving Capitol building west of the Mississippi. Take a picturesque drive through the historic Quapaw Quarter and view the Villa Marre, featured in the successful sitcom "Designing Women". Visit historic Central High School or journey back in time to see how Arkansas' first settlers tamed the new wilderness. Civil War sites, picturesque river walks, interactive museums and the new William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park are just a few of Little Rock’s many attractions.

Tour Little Rock's art galleries, historic sites, and museums. Check out all the great places for family fun and events to see which local venues are featuring concerts, sporting events, the circus, the state fair, and much more!

Little Rock's Old State House was constructed of handmade brick in 1836, served as the state capitol for 75 years and continues to inspire as a history museum today.

Socks Clinton, First Feline of the Arkansas Governor's Mansion and the White House was born in Little Rock.

have fun

I wonder - is Socks alive and if not is he stuffed and at the Presidential Library :-?

I reckon we'll all still be puzzling over that one even after G's visit to Arkansas.

I know "myrtle beach" is a big tourist attraction but not all of it. we have a condo in cherry grove (north myrtle) and it is the only place i will ever go on vacation. where we are is very non-commercial. Though margaritaville, CIP, planet hollywood is not a long drive, im just saying the whole MB area is not a tourist attraction.
PS, I hope you have a good time & i am jealous :-?

Thanks for pointing that out. It's just that my idea of a getting away from it all isn't a place like Myrtle Beach. Some people like that, which is fine. I just prefer going to places away from all the tourists and the usual trappings. Glad to know there's areas around Myrtle Beach like that to investigate.

trust me, my idea of getting away isnt a tourist attraction either. I guess its just that since I've never really seen that part of MB I dont know what it is. sorry if i sounded rude.
