I actually haven't done this in years but I feel properly shamed for it. I did in fact chew my hs son out for taking a cheesy hand towel for the same reason.
I took a wash cloth once.... to wrap up my HOT curling iron! I was in a hurry and had to pack fast... I am so honest I actually put it in the mail to the hotel when I got home....LOL

Figuring a stamp was cheaper than burning the suitcase...LOL

not by design, but if I end up with one, well then - oh well.

Yes, BUT
I take sort of the "Robin Hood" approach-
I DO take the wash cloths and little bottles of shampoo, soaps, etc. (and always tell the front desk that I need a toothbrush and toothpaste), then donate them to our YMCA battered women shelter.
I know it doesn't make it "okay" but I can live with that.

I think they expect the lotions shampoo etc to leave with the guest. Most companies consider that advertising!

to rest all your weary minds, I didn't take a thing!!!
The Phillips HDTV didn't fit very well in my suitcase.
But, don't cha agree that a towell with, "such and such...i.e. The Waldorf, The Ritz... etc." is cooler than a cheezy teeshirt from same town.
I gotta get out more!!

I have not stayed in a hotel that has towels nicer than those I have at home .....
I only buy the best towels at home - it is up there in the "only the best" category like toilet paper

Not recently, but that might be a habit I pick up now that I'm getting my own place....

The wife usually "borrows" one or two when we go to Vegas, so she can use them to wrap up the glasses that she usually gets her fancy drinks in.
