Cedar point is shady

They sent me a email last week that said I only had one week left to buy a 2006 season pass before the price went up!!! Then today they announced that 2006 prices we're gonna be less than 2005. And they are putting in a crap ride, which might mean the rumor that a 600 to 700 foot monster coaster is being developed for 2007.

Even if they can construct a 600+ foot coaster, how often will it be shut down for weather or maintenance, wasn't Dragster down a lot of the time? I also think the coaster in NJ was not funtional much in 05, if memory serves me correct. Don't get me wrong, I would love a huge roller coaster, but I also want one that is going to be running with some frequency.

Yes, that does $uck you were lured into buying a pass, when prices were actually headed down. Not a very good way to treat your loyal customers.

This is the reason why I never get season passes.

I'm not convinced that as coasters get bigger, that they're going to be safer and better. There has to be a ceiling on this somewhere, and a 700 foot coaster has to be tempting the gods. Plus, I'd rather go somewhere like Kennywood, where there's a whole bunch of good smaller coasters, and you don't have to wait in a 3 hour line for one coaster that's shut-down often.

The season pass thing does sound like it was a Richard-move on their part. Uncool. As a regular and loyal customer, you should let 'em know you're pi$$ed. Write a letter. Call in a bomb threat. You know - something to make them thing twice.

Kennywood is a great little amusement park isn't it? I swear, the JackRabbit, although a small wooden coaster, is one of the scariest I've been on!

That's a shame that Cedar Point is being shady! Bad Cedar Point! Bad!

I love rollercoasters in general...LOVE 'em! But I tell you what-nothing beats a great wooden coaster. They still provide a thrill!

It must have something to do with your gut telling you that the whole damn thing is about to fall apart.

Where is Kennywood?

Pittsburgh. It's an old park, I think in/near Homestead, and the town has since grown around it. There's a few wooden coasters there that have been listed on Travel Channel's best roller coasters show. They used to have something called Steel Phantom (I think that was the name) but they had to take it down to put up a new coaster, which I haven't been on yet. It's a nice place, but not as big as these 6 flag or universal-types of places.
