Rum question - please help

Post by col cairo »

What do you use for mixed drinks dark or clear? Not much of a bartender since I stick with beer most of the time.
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

it depends on the drink, and the flavoring.

Depends on the recipe. It usually tells you which to use.

Rum and coke?

Rum punch?

Back in highschool and college we would drink rum and coke at ballgames.

If I'm just mixing to mix....

Dark is almost always my choice because of flavor. The only time I use light, is for a fruity or blended drink.

The number one rule; drink what tastes good to you!

Ditto. Now that there are a few brands that make Mango, pineapple, coconut flavored rum - all of which are clear usually - there are tons of receipes. The mixer is the big deciding factor. Captain & Coke is my most favorite.

I go with Captain & Diet ~ Skinny Pirate :pirate:

However, Cruzan Coconut and Diet Vanilla Coke is pretty good. Its amazing what you'll try out of necessity.

BB's house always has rum!! Usually it's Bacardi simply because that's what I've been drinking for years and what tastes good to me. Not a fan of dark rum so much.

If you really like the flavor of Dark Rum, try a Rum and Tonic with a lime twist (not a squeeze, a twist). I prefer Myers. The effervesence of the tonic brings out the true Rum flavor. This drink does not work with Club Soda!! It must be Tonic.

A rule of thumb would be light rum with fruity mixers and dark rum with the colas. But its really depends on your taste. I drink a gold rum which eliminates the confusion!

Well, technically, alcohol slows your metabolism & diet soda is high in sodium. Drink too many and you won't stay drunk & skinny for long.
