question...help

Post by mikemck »

Last year sometime, a painfully inebriated Jimmy Buffett and some equally blitzed Reefers were broadcast over RM doing about five or six songs at Cafe Margaritaville.

I know you guys know what I'm talking about because there were threads talking about it.

The broadcast was posted on the internet at one time. Does anybody know where?

Were there reefers there? I remember the show after Jimmy recorded License To Chill. He was with Bill Payne, Will Kimbrough, maybe Roger was there. I'll have to try to remember. :)

It was not last year. It was December 2003.

I think the band he joined was Jonathan Birchfield. He was calling them the Shrimpers.

Yes, the 20th anniversary party. Don't recall any Reefers though. It's the one where Jimmy took his shirt off between BEG and You Can't always Get What You Want. Captain Tony was there and he said he was "opening" for Deanna (forgot last name) from Washington, DC. Is this the one?

  Was it Scarlet Begonias that he couldn't get and just stopped singing for a while? I remember hearing a recording of that night and having a good laugh.

There are five songs from that infamous show available on Captain Morgan's FTP site - Visit the link below for the server info:

http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26974

When you log on to the site open the folder marked " _incomplete" , then the "2003.12.05 - Key West, FL" folder.

Jimmy sure was feeling his rhum that night - in retrospect, it probably was not a great idea to broadcast that "surprise appearance" at the Key West Margaritaville on RM - I've often wondered if heads rolled over that one. Lucky Jimmy has a sense of humour!
“I have even in recent years... adapted to the colder waters of Long Island in the fall… Either that, or the older I get, the more I am getting in touch with my Newfoundland genetic heritage.” – Jimmy Buffett, Outer Banks Diary, Part 2
"There's a lot of Goofy Newfie in me" - JB 13/10/2017

Deanna Bogart. She's one of my favorite local blues musicians. Her website has a picture of the jam with Buffett.

The night Jimmy was innebriated is different from the night he played with Deanna.

We are all talking about two different shows.

One show was Jimmy after recording License to Chill at Key West in December 2003.

The other show is in Key West also, but was January of 2005 for the 20th Anniversary.

Jimmy was considerably sillier/drunker for the Dec. 2003 show.

I loved him at both shows, but then he is just so silly when he is drinking.

What browser are you using?
I think some people are having trouble accessing it using internet explorer, so try the free firefox browser- http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ . It works just like IE and it shouldn't be a problem.
