i'm always not sold on prospects. If you can get a proven Major Leaguer do it. The Mets have Miledge......if i can get Manny for him i would do it.Until How many times do you here a guy is a can't miss and fails. Hanley i've been hearing about for 3-4 years.......why isn't he up if he has all the tools??

Adam Eaton to Texas for ????

verrrry interesting! :P
I wouldn't mind seeing Wells to the Padres in return for Dave Roberts. Roberts is a hero forever in Boston. A great utility player.
wells back to the padres?
I heard exactly that rumor....Wells for Roberts

Yes. And interesting that the Trib ran an article the day before this signing saying Eyre's agent just had a great meeting with Kenny Williams. Ha! Win the WS and players still would rather play for the Northsiders!
I actually heard that Eyre's agent was contacted by ALL 30 TEAMS!!!
More proof that Jim Hendry is one hell of a GM... now if Dusty could prove to be one hell of a manager... :-?
Dreams............................................
I know... :-? Stranger things have happened though. I'm going to stick by him through the last year of his contract.

Well, make sense for the Red Sox considering how badly they needed pitching last year.

The Red Sox are giving up a lot. No doubt they are a better team with Beckett and Lowell next season than they were this season but they are getting rid of two of their best prospects, one of which (Hanley) was deemed untouchable. But how often do can't miss prospects turn out to be stars? Look at the top 15 2002 Baseball America prospects:

#1 Josh Beckett, #2 Mark Prior #3 Sean Burroughs #4 Hank Blalock #5 Joe Borchard #6 Wilson Betemit #7 Josh Hamilton #8 Carlos Pena #9 Adrian Gonzalez #10 Boof Bonser #11 Wily Mo Pena #12 Ryan Anderson #13 Nick Johnson #14 Juan Cruz #15 Brandon Phillips

Mike Lowell stinks! Maybe a change in scenery will help but I think we are looking at another Kevin Millar. But at least Lowell is great in the field and knows how to do the hidden ball trick  no pun intended because as we all know Lowell only has one ball... :o

Mets get Delgado... sucks to be a Marlins fan.

I also love seeing all the big trades happening with the Yanks 2 biggest rivals. I wonder when George will make his big move...

I think so far the biggest deal the Yankees made is signing Matsui, I think is a good thing for them. I think they signed someone to replace Bernie.

I think it has to do that most teams back when baseball started were in the northern climes. (I don't think there were any teams south of DC)

Essentially, in the old days, when Baseball was the dominant sport (primarily the Great Depression Era, also know as Larry's teenage years), the offseason was just as exciting as the regular season. People would gather around their Hot Stoves, listen to their radio for news of trades, etc., and discuss them.

According to David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez will NEVER play for Boston again. He cited personal and family reasons.

Mets, in addition to probably landing Carlos Delgado, are close to signing Billy Wagner.

Indians are wooing B.J. Ryan.

Dodgers are working on acquiring Juan Pierre from the Marlins....who are rapidly running out of players.

I would LOVE to see Juan Pierre patroling centerfield for the Red Sox. As for giving up to much for Beckett, They managed not to trade their young lefthander Jon Lester. We have gone from a very old starting rotation to a young one if they manage to trade Wells to San Diego.

Last winter Ortiz was quoted as saying that Pedro would never be a Met. I just wish he would stay out of it. The Sox aren't going to give Manny away, and they've said they WON'T pay a part of his salary to another team. If Manny stays home they'll have more money to pay others. I surprised Manny's agent hasn't tried to set up some kind of deal with teams Manny will go to.

Everybody is wooing Ryan.

Marlins are having another fire sale as they try to slash a $60 million payroll. Their lease expires (not including club options) after 2007, so they'll be gone by then (Las Vegas, baby!)
