Work on "Who2" to resume in February, Daltrey producing Keith Moon film
At the pinnacle of their decline
Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are scheduled to head back into the studio in February to continue recording the new Who2, which has been in the works for nearly a decade. "I don't want to stop and I don't think Pete does," Daltrey says. "We're at the pinnacle of our decline."
The 2002 death of bassist John Entwistle and Townshend's 2003 arrest for accessing a child-pornography Web site (charges were later dropped) delayed the album. "He's f**** angry about what happened to him," Daltrey says. "Make no mistake about it, it will come out in his music."
Daltrey has also revealed details about the Keith Moon biopic that he is co-producing, starring Mike Myers as the late Who drummer. "Mike has more depth than a lot of people give him credit for," Daltrey says. The film, he adds, may cover only Moon's final three days. "In the last fifteen years I've stopped two bad Keith Moon films from being made," Daltrey says. "If my one's bad it will be bad because it's dangerous, not because it's predictable." Daltrey and Myers are currently assembling a production team for the project.

The Who was probably the first rock band I ever got into as a kid, and they are still probably my #1 favorite band of all time. After hearing about this reunion album so many times over the years, its hard to believe, yet I still get excited everytime I hear a story about it. They are such a great band, and are a tremendous live act, even at this stage of their careers.

Has anyone hear heard 'Real Good Lookin' Boy' or 'Old Red Wine'? Those are their two most recent songs, I guess around 2003 or something like that, and they are awesome. If that's what the songs are gonna be like on this next album I'm so excited (I'm excited anyway).

Yeah I have heard them and they are really good. Did you catch them on their quick US tour last summer? They played both new songs live and they sounded great. I agree with you....if the rest of the songs they are working on sound like that, we'll be in for a treat.

I saw them May 22, 2004 at the Garden. I had never listened to them before going to that concert, but it was simply amazing. Did you catch them at all??

Yes I caught them at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield the day before. They only played 2 U.S. gigs on the east coast for that short tour, so we were lucky to be able to catch them. I did hear the MSG show as I ordered the CD's from both shows. They were fantastic at both gigs. There was a review in Rolling Stone for their MSG show as well where they received a 5 star review for the show. Not bad for a couple of 60 year olds!
I'm glad you got a chance to see them at least once...you never know how many more times you'll get the chance to see those legends. I've been lucky enough to see them 4 times now, which I'm grateful for since I am only 25.

That's awesome that you've seen them 4 times... I hope they'll tour some in the U.S. to promote the album a bit.
Just as a cool side note, remember the Who concert when there was a stampede at the gate and a couple fans got killed/injured? I think that was in Cleveland... anyway, my dad was at the next concert in Philly. He said it was much more subdued at that concert, the band members especially.

Yes it happened in 1979 in Cincinnati. Its a tragic date in rock n' roll history. The topic actually came up in the news last year....
