Somewhere over China- Lost Album

Post by Goodman »

If there's one album/CD that JB really blows off in concert it's this one. I don't think it's that bad and all the Goodman colaborations are fine. Any time you need to come down and feel a little blue try- Where's the Party?

Anybody beside me like Chinese?

My favorite is Where's the Party? It's a rare reflective/semi-blue song from the Prince of Party. I Heard I Was in Town & the title track are worthy entrees. I think JB has boycotted these tunes in the live shows because he feels they slow the pace down and the natives get restless.

I like it but do feel it's among his weaker efforts. I really, really wanted to like "It's Midnight and I'm Not Famous Yet" when it first came out but it's inclusion on one of his recent Live In... CDs just goes to show it still doesn't work, at least for me. My favorite cuts would be "Lip Service" and "When Salome Plays the Drum".

Funny cause that's the way JJW pronounces it on Trashy Women (Chris Wall) on one of the live Cd's (Night after Night perhaps). Don't think JJW's from Boston although Oneonta ain't that far. :-)

If I Could Just Get It on Paper As a sometime writer with a novel stuck in my head, this has been a favorite since the first time I heard it.

Enjoy it much and it is a frequent in my "rotation" . In fact it is the tape in my car currently

I wouldn't mind hearing When Salome Plays the Drum once in a while.

"It's Midnight..." is only worth it @ Vegas (or Mohegan Sun this year).

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Funny how you always think you are unique when it comes to stuff like this! I swore I was the only one in the world who went limp hearing those exact lines. When I first heard it I told my sister I had to pull the car over! I don't think I've ever heard anything as sensual as that!! Oh, Jimmy...sigh
