Need some help finding the title/author of a book.

Post by flipflops »

I don't know where else to turn. I've searched amazon and B&N and it's just too much. This may be a needle in a haystack, but here goes.

When I was in 10th grade I was required to read a book about a man and his dog who left everything and traveled the country living off the land. His dog was his only companion until later in the book when he met a woman, married her, and she joined them in the wilderness. If I remember correctly, this is a true story.

Sorry I don't have more information like author and title, but I wouldn'd ask if I did. I know it's not "Call of the Wild". That's all I know for sure. Thanks in advance

The only one I can think of is John Steinbeck's "Travels with Charley"

You can try Google, Dogpile.com, or other search engine, and do a search for books by subject. Get some various links to try the description of or keywords.
I don't know what year when you were in the 10th Grade or the school system you were in. It might be possible to do a search and see if that was on the required or reccommended reading list.
Was it a recently published book or had it had been out for sometime? wa it hardback or paperback?

I can try asking my friend at the bookstore but I don't think she could tell me much from that little info so far,...can you recall anything else about the book? Such as ..... Can you recall where the wilderness was? What state? Did they walk and backpack everywhere? Travel in a motorhome or pick-up camper? Did he build a cabin? Think about it and see what other details you might can recall... Anything on the cover of the book?
The timeline the book was set in.....modern era or other....
Roll with the punches, play all of your hunches...come what may...
