Ha!

The white wagon reminds me of my cousin's first car, the family Plymouth wagon. About a week after she got her license, we went through the bank's drive through teller.

She attempted to make a "cool" exit by hitting the gas and zooming away. Problem was, she didn't straighten the wheels when she originally drove up and slammed right into the teller box, destroying it! LOL

Ahhh, to be 16 !

Did you have problems with body rust?
We had a white one that rusted away,
and I don't recall ever exposing it to
beach or road salt.

The first car I owned was a 1968 Ford Falcon with an inline 6 and 3 on the tree. The heater didn't work, which was great dates during the winter but sucked when it would snow inside the car. I drove it until I bought my 73 Mercury Montego with a big V-8, lots of room in both the front and back seat.

The first car that I drove was a 1958 Volvo.

My first real car that I bought myself and not one that I borrowed from dad was a 1971 Brilliant Orange Super Beetle. Bought it while I was stationed in England serving in the USAF. First car I owned and I had to learn how to drive a stick and on the wrong side of the road. It was no fun when you had to stop at a traffic light and the intersection was on a hill. You only prayed that there was no one behind you. It was a good car and I had it shipped back to Florida when I left England and the Air Force. It drove good on our I-10 in Jax, till one day on the way to seminary, the clutch cable snapped. I pulled to the emergency lane, got out with my cb (remember those?) and then a log truck with no brakes slammed into the back of my beetle. Totalled it. It was a good car.
