My first post...

JB Discussion, Trails of M'ville Tour thread on Nov. 17, 2004

(I'd found BN in July '03 just searching to learn more about JB after my first concert in June. I lurked a bunch and learned until I had my own non-work computer.)

Trails of Margaritaville was a great tour, neat places, history, etc. There is one caveat; however, the guide can make a difference.

We had Frank who honestly seemed to think the tour was more about Frank vs. Jimmy. He spent half the tour promoting his magic show at the Schooner Wharf, and a bunch of time "showing off" to those we passed along the way. Photo ops and stories were rushed (he truly lacked an appreciation for the art of storytelling -- which is a shame considering that's so much of what Jimmy's about). And he really didn't know much about Jimmy beyond his rehearsed stories (e.g. clearly hadn't read any of Jimmy's books.) Not even Frank could make the experience a bad one though; it just could have been better. (Go, but request a different guide.)

It ran pretty close to on time so you shouldn't have a problem making the boat (especially if the cruise line offers it as an option).

Yeah, I got dissed...a couple folks didn't like me picking on Frank... :-?

From the Bristol Va setlist september 8, 2001

Never posted here before but always enjoy reading you folks during the concert. Does seem kind of quiet on the board tonight.

Going to our first concert next week in Chicago and really looking forward to it.

It turns out that Chicago concert was delayed a bit. 9/11 happened shortly after my first post....

We were guessing what Jimmy might say at the first concert after 9/11. This show was scheduled for the 11th.

It's no secret that I love the Caribbean and Central America. Two of my favorite organizations are working there.
The Cozumel Chrysalis Group in Mexico, and Paramedics for Children in Honduras.

The Cozumel Chrysalis Group assists school children by providing school supplies and paying student registration fees.

Paramedics For Children is an international humanitarian organization serving the world's poor by providing programs that help save lives, bring hope, and restore dignity. This assistance is provided without regard to people's religious beliefs, gender, or ethnic background.
It's been awhile since anyone has posted in the thread. http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12228

This is the oldest one I could find by me by just looking real quicklike.
I'm sure there are older ones that were prolly deleted over the years.
I believe that I originally joined in February of 2000.
It's from the "Banana Wind" album review thread.

"What Was Your First Buffett Concert"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charleston, South Carolina..
The first time I paid money and went in somewhere was 1975.

At The Citadel...The Military College of Charleston...

I think it was like $5 or $6 to get in...It must have been late Spring , early summer..A bunch of cadets were there..gottheir girlfriends drunk and left early so there was lots of room..He played for hours that night and it was magical!
Mark Clark Hall, on the campus.....

:D :D

Mornin y'all...

I only know this because I actually signed my name on it...

I lurked for a few weeks before actually posting...and then I could hardly see the screen for all those post it notes with people's names on them...

This is one of my earliest posts, but I'm sure not the first. I must have used a different username then and rejoined when the board changed in 2001.

he Dallas show was rockin. "We Are the People" had the band and the crowd "Twistin and Shoutin" and everyone in our area was singing and dancing all night. I was impressed with so many being able to sing along with ALL the songs. :) Is this really TEXAS?

Jimmy did his gyrations on stage and was really UP. Looked great too in his silk kahki colored slacks and purple silk shirt with NO shoes!!! Fingers, the poster boy for Tommy Bahama, looked great too. http://www.escapetoparadise.nu/tommybahama.html

Get ready, WEST coast. Jimmy and the Coral Reefers are ready!!

Thanks, Dallas, and all the parrotheads there for making the parking lot and the Ice House a true Buffett experience.

My very first post and I actually started the thread..... I still wonder about this several years later... here goes... December 29, 2003
*****
This thread probably has been done a ba-zillion times.... BUT, I do wonder..... Does Jimmy ever actually reads any of these posts? AND do you think that if he does, that he actually posts back????? Does anyone here actually know him....????? OR~~touched the hem of his garment?????

Since I have never started a thread before, this is a question that has bothered me so.....

What do other phanantics think in this regard?

My guess... doubtful.

But, I hope that he does. Shoot, maybe he is just a figment of my imagination!!!!

I hope that someone replys... as I will feel so stupid for wondering... BUT. haven't you ever wondered?????

My first post is gone - but it had something to do with "What time do you need to get to Rockefeller Plaza to get a good spot to see Jimmy? LIPH was the first person to respond to me!
