Chi-Chi's, as a company, was dying anyway. They had made bad decisions for a while, and their market share was dwindling fast. This was just the final blow.doxadive wrote:there should be a lot of abandoned chi-chi's around...that usually happens afer many peopl eget sick from salmonella and if i remember right 1 or 2 died from the tainted food
Ironically, although the Salmonella outbreak happened in their restaurants, it wasn't their fault. Bad product came in the back door.

CIP in Michigan
CIP in Lansing is scheduled to open on Jan 13......No chance it'll be a Carrabba's as there is one within a mile anyways. Already have a CIP in Kalamazoo MI too. Used to have a (corporate) Cap't Tony's in suburban Detroit but that didnt last long even though Cap't Tony did visit back in 1998.

I don't think we want the CIP to expand so quickly they become undercapitalized and end up in some sort of financial challenge. I know some great locations in the northwest Indiana area, does anyone have any spare capital sitting around they would like to invest. A CIP in this area would be absolutely huge.

Gary has it's own airport with Hooters airlines, it's an up-n-coming area(it sounds good anyway). You also have a point, property is very inexpensive too. I was thinking more like Munster or Merrillville.RinglingRingling wrote:CBiP-Gary... where the floor show doesn't match the saga in the parking lot.BadHabitsAcctnt wrote:I don't think we want the CIP to expand so quickly they become undercapitalized and end up in some sort of financial challenge. CIP employee
So I'm a saute cook at a Cheeseburger In Paradise here in Greenville, SC and I will be flying to Sterling Heights, MI on 12/7 to train the newly hired employees for the newly opening location. As far as I know, the store will be opening sometime around the 11th or 12th, and I'm sure some of the locals in the area will be glad to have a little getaway in paradise to get out of the snow (which i am told will probably be an everyday occurance during my stay). In case anyone in the area has never been to one of our stores, it is a mix of creole/carribean/southwestern types cuisine (i.e. bbq shrimp, blackened and grilled fish, spicy satay skewers, and my personal favorite, the jerk chicken wrap, as well as a variety of different burgers, all of which are awesome in their own ways). So for anyone reading in the Sterling Heights area, paradise is coming your way soon, and i look forward to making sure that you guys have the best possible experience visiting us, and that the food lives up to all of your expectations. See you soon... Ben DeFore

Re: New Cheeseburger in Paradise Restaurant in Michigan
Yes actually....unfortunately our east side is not doing well. We need something to help energize and stimulate our economy on the east side. We have a mall who just got a new 12 screen movie theater, new Dick's Sporting Goods and a new Longhorn Steakhouse. But our mall lost JCPenney's, Lazarus and is going to lose L.S. Ayres in January. It's a shame because the east side is a great place to live. I'd hate to have to move because it wasn't safe to live there anymore. Plus, the ChiChi's old location is right off the interstate, easy to access.RinglingRingling wrote:East Side?davesnik wrote:There's hope......we have an empty chi-chi's on my side of town in Indy. In case you missed this is Cap't P's thread... I posted:
And on a VERY exciting note..... I nosed around looking for clues on where the new CIP is going in Tampa.... and found this article.....
Keep in mind.... this location is 15 minutes from the Ice Palace, 6 minutes from The Ford Amphitheatre, 5 minutes from my office and 20 minutes from my house!!!
EXCERPT:
Late last month, Outback Steakhouse's board agreed to spend as much as $24-million to buy and fix up 46 acres, located across Interstate 75 from a Wal-Mart and Westfield Brandon mall. The deal is expected to close in December.

Re: New Cheeseburger in Paradise Restaurant in Michigan
Saw that when I was in Indy in Oct. Went whipping past the abandoned ChiChi's there on the east side. It's kinda like Columbus' South Side, in that it is an area that could stand a good backfilling now that most of the expansion to the north and west is starting to run into other towns and higher-priced land.davesnik wrote:Yes actually....unfortunately our east side is not doing well.
