Computer Monitor Trouble

All of a sudden, I have these gray horizontal lines going across my computer screen. I've rebooted several times and unplugged the monitor, and it still doesn't fix it.
Anyone know how to fix this outside of buying a new monitor (which in that case I might as well just buy a new compuer).

Steo away from the crack pipe and put your hands in the air.

I dunno how big these bars are....:
It might be just a bad cable from the monitor to the computer.
It could be the video card is going ....
It might be something on the motherboard or the processor itself or maybe just the monitor itself.
If you have a shop nearby maybe they could check it out for you at a reasonable cost.
Walmart and other stores have montors available for reasonable prices, unless you want to order one online.....
Good luck.

Troubleshoot as much as you can before you pay for service. Try to borrow another monitor and see if thats where your problem is. My monitor acts up sometimes and has similiar lines. But I just have to push it in tighter, cause I never use the screws. Try backing the screws out until the ends are not visible, then plug it in tight. Check the pins on the monitor cable, and check the port to see if theres stuff maybe on the contacts. To me it sounds like a monitor communication problem rather than an internal problem. You could also try starting in safe mode to see if they are still there. Safe mode might prevent the video driver from loading, and load the standard driver, and tell you something one way or the other.
I usually wouldnt say that purchasing a new monitor would warrant buying a new computer, but I dont know what your running.

more than likely, depending on the age of the monitor, it is the electron gun in the back if you are using a CRT monitor.
