I'm with you Mal...from the bottom. And no one here says anything because I am also the ONLY one who seems to know how to change an empty TP roll. When it's over the top, it just keeps rolling and rolling...and then the dog gets at it...and that's a whole 'nother story.

House rule:

TP installed off the top = toilet seat gets put down

TP installed off the bottom = seat gets left up

The correct answer is: from the top such that the loose end cascades down over the front of the roll. To do otherwise is to upset the cosmic balance of the universe.

I am SUCH a weirdo, I'll admit it. Toilet paper just seems cleaner when it comes from the top. When I go to somebody's house and they have it coming out from the bottom, I feel like it's scraping the wall, and getting COOTIES all over it. And I must not have cooties on my bottom.
