Funny!! My hubby doesn't even care if it's on the roll!!! Nasty but hilarious story....James was hunting one VERY COLD (like 6 degrees) morning before the sun came up. He had a call of nature...in nature. He had no toilet paper. He DID however have one of my NICE TOWELS! Why...dunno. After he came home and explain, very much like I have, leaving all the gross stuff out...he finished the explaination with " I left it in the woods and you know...that towel musta cost a lot because MAN was it soft!" ...

I did not want THAT towel back....yucky...but funny anyhow!

Top or bottom I don't care - and I voted accordingly. However . . .

I hate it when people jam those jumbo rolls into spaces too small for them and then when you try to pull paper off the roll it comes off in little bits!

This complicates an otherwise simple job!

Every since this post started I examine the direction the paper rolls every time I use the facilities 99% of the time the paper has rolled from the top........my study proves I am normal.

In most hotels/motels, I think the standard is roll from the top. Probably just to get that nice little v-shape.

I go with the "roll from the top" option, but the way things are set up in my bathroom, it's just as easy to pull the whole roll off the open-ended holder.
