Let me see : First if those who decided to knock the source, I quoted, had bothered to check then perhaps they would not be so ignorant of topics they they choose to commment on. ( of course that would not the first time people have done such....) The thread did not start out about politics.
Questions arose and were asked and answered.

Clearly, they were told to check for themselves on the sources, apparently something they did not do, ( or if they did igmore the sources) and choose to slam the source, in the article. Something they could or should not have done if they had bothered to check the source irself, as they had so chose to do... and freely comment on things they have no knowledge off...which would not be the first time.

Larry,
Get real!!! You make your own choice to come and to post in whatever "Off Topic" Thread as you choose, and no one makes up their mind for you. As ypu admit it is clearly labeled "OFF TOPIC"..... You choose to post as you will, of your own choice. I agreed if you noticed ....no Political section" was needed here. But since you specified about comments in an off topic category that people happen to make...just what comments do you have to offer and have you offered, besides a SAC or that you know Heather? Perhaps people are tired of hearing about that as well. Maybe they chose NOT to comment on or don't comment on, it and really do not care and perhaps we actaully do feel glad that you know Heather...but how many times do we really need to hear about, you know Heather?
As for any thread I do not care about or I feel does not concern me, or I feel no need to respond to, I ignore it!! It is up to me to choose to respond or post or to read and MY CHOICE to respond to! Clearly people have the option to respond or choose not to....Just as people can choose to hijack a thread...which is apparently against the rules.

You may or may not like me, or anyone else you choose. That is your choice to make, just as it is your choice to brag about how well you know Heather in any particular thread, or you or anyone else chooses whatever comments they post in any thread. If you or someone else don't happen to like a particular thread, so be it. When and what was your last post about Jimmy Buffett? ( Something besides you an Heather?) What was the last JB thread that you happen to start? Post anywhere ekae foe example?

For someone to say, that they are going to quote you, everytime someone post something that is, or could be political ( or perhaps some news item or other comment that may not be popular with them) makes me realize about the lack of independent and original thought and is nothing but censorship and someone saying "no other view but mine/yours" counts.
It is clearly an open forum for people to comment as they freely choose....after all, there is clearly much more for people to discuss and talk about and debate in the various issues of ongoing life. After all, if people only felt the need to discuss or talk about only Jimmy Buffett ( I am sure they would soom run out of things to say) and there would not be a need for an off topic area and a lot less categories/threads.

I do not know what you may want other than to see only Jimmy Buffett topics discussed/debated,,,which happens in certain areas on this board,....however...people are people and will discuss/debate what they will and choose...from Jimmy Buffett to current events. If it is so strongly felt that people should not hijack threads, then that should be applied equally, to everyone...or would you say that favoritism and ignorance of the law an and rules is subjective? Or that it is ok to harrass everyone with an opposing view?

I m quite glad that Jim did not have the need to set aside another forum.

That settles it.

Tomorrow, I'm going onto www.politicaldebate.com and talking about Jimmy Buffett and sporks and cheese and boobies and pie and onions.

Don't forget to talk about cheese and sporks! No doubt you can get at least one or two others to join you with their strong beliefs and go hijack the threads over there.

I mentioned cheese AND sporks....

My post was only partially serious. It poked fun at you, but it poked fun at the rest of us, too....

It's what I do best. Sad, huh?

But I do think you take yourself FAR too seriously, Sam. Be a Parrothead and relax.

No no no no no... you said cheese and sporks.... not sporks and cheese... the way some some are around here ....makes a difference and if they approve of the subject or not.......

Not to mention people that must have a poll about every decision they must make in their life.....about something from as simple as placing toilet paper on a roll ( Sheeze!!! How hard is it to figure out which way the pattern unrolls, I guess plain white really messes such people up!!! ) to lesser inconsequential things....that really have no relation to Jimmy Buffett either....but no one really ever complains about those things NEVER have anything to do with Jimmy Buffett or are threatening to leave a Jimmy Buffett forum because of them...

About onions ... Sweet Vidalias, or the sweet yellow or the little green ones that grow in my yard, onions are the way to go.....I am allowed to be racists about them, after all I am the one eating them....anyone else is allowed to be as racists as they choose when it comes to onions and they have to eat them.
So yes I proudly discriminate when it comes to onions and other food that I eat and proudly admit I am not Politically Correct when it comes to what I choose to eat or not to eat or any other shape, form, or fashion, etc.
So there Hijackers... and those that care so much about ONLY Jimmy Buffett being talked about in here ( where were the anti hijacking comments from those that oppose non Jimmy Buffett related topics,I mean after all I have not seen any post about them threatening to leave because of such inane polls or topics...) enjoy what you eat or otherwise, since I don't have to eat it, and I will enjoy as I will.

poking fun is two way street!!!
 8) :D :pirate:

I guess you missed this part of my post.
LIPH wrote:Yes, I'm free not to read these threads. Yes, I don't have to respond to any of them.
Where did I say anyone made me post here? I came in, read the, at the time, 3 page long thread, and voiced my "oinion".
Sam wrote:As for any thread I do not care about or I feel does not concern me, or I feel no need to respond to, I ignore it!! It is up to me to choose to respond or post or to read and MY CHOICE to respond to!
And I have the same choice to respond or not respond, which I exercised. Apparently you have a problem with that.
Sam wrote:When and what was your last post about Jimmy Buffett? ( Something besides you an Heather?) What was the last JB thread that you happen to start?
I posted in the thread El Mojito started yesterday about the best live JB concert CD. I posted in the thread A1ABound started about the possibility of JB doing a concert in Nashville next year. I posted in the thread about the Fenway Park CD/DVD. When I go to a concert I always post in the pre-concert planning thread for that show and usually post a link to pictures I took at the tailgate party after I get my film developed. I post a lot of stuff about Jimmy Buffett. When was the last time YOU posted anything about JB?

As far as the last thread I started about JB, I don't remember when it was. But if you search through BN you'll find very few threads that I've started about anything. Although I did start a thread about The John Mayer Trio in the Related Artists Forum yesterday.

Lack of independent and original thought? That's pretty funny coming from the master of the cut and paste. If you ever have an independent and original thought it will be lonely.
Sam wrote:It is clearly an open forum for people to comment as they freely choose
Which is what I did. But, as usual, when the comment is opposed to your viewpoint you have a problem with it.

I love Larry too.

And even if he didn't know Heather I'd still Love him.

Seems to me as if some people on this board really need to wear looser underwear. Or come to reality. Or consider meds. Or all three. BN has always gone off topic and had hijacked threads. Quit p*** moaning and groaning about YOUR threads being hijacked. What in the BLEEP makes you so dadgum special that YOUR threads be held to a higher degree of respect than any other thread on BN??
