its a longshot but try calling the stadiums group sales department and if you are all staying at the MGM that may help your situation too

that sounds like teh best way to go about it. The hotel/arena always has a portion of tix for their use.

another longshot, but try contacting the concert promoter, or whoever's producing the concert. This is something interesting, and people love this stuff. Who knows, if you knock on enough doors, maybe you may even get a special appearance with JB or at least some recognition.
(Can you tell that I'm a firm believer in the fact that there's ALWAYS a way to make something happen?)

Are you a member of a PH club???
They could contact the Vegas Club and see who to contact.
checking with the Hotel is a good idea. also..
maybe a local Radio station could help ...
might make a great local news item...

you could always rob a bank and then buy tickets through brokers/scalpers at ridiculously inflated prices.

Dazed...welcome to BN. What a fun reception idea!!!
I agree that working with MGM would be your best bet. If you make it enough worth their while through rooms, food, etc., they may be gracious enough to help.
Other than that, as Vegas doesn't always sell out immediately (higher priced tix), perhaps you could get lucky through multiple purchasers targeting one price point and then buying out a section...you'd probably have to do it by phone to request a specific and less-popular section (to increase your chances of getting tickets together).
If MGM tells you "no thanks", I'd take this second approach.
Good luck!

I can assure you, JB for a wedding reception is AWESOME (ergo, my BN namesake)!!!
My husband and I got married at the Denver show in 2004 and treated our wedding guests to the press-box suite for the show. Jimmy got wind of it (thanks to the help of some really awesome BNrs) and dedicated WDWGDAS to hubby and me during the show.
Since we didn't know until about 6 weeks before the concert what the date was, planning it was tricky. You'd be best off to make good with the MGM group sales department and see if they can give you a heads up about the next date Jimmy will be playing there. That will make planning sooo much easier.
Another thing that might help your case is giving more of your business to the MGM, such as having your wedding at their hotel and staying there as well. This also might work if you take the M'ville Vegas/Flamingo approach. When I was researching a Vegas wedding, the Flamingo has some decent wedding packages. I don't remember if I considered the MGM. But remember, network...network...network (including spending time on BN)!!
As for surprising your guests, that might be a bit tricky, unless you can put up a good facade about what your "fake" reception is going to be, simply because you might have very short notice on when Jimmy is playing there.
Anyway--speaking from experience, it's definitely worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's really not THAT bad, although i know for a fact vegas is pricier than denver. but...we got 50 concert tickets and the press-box suite at the pepsi center for $4000. the garden space (called coors meadow) where we actually had the ceremony outside the pepsi center was $1000. we had to rent chairs and tables and we had a CIP meal for our pre-reception. we spent about $1100 on alcohol, and provided margaritas, coronas, water, soda, tea, and lemonade for all our guests for both the wedding (people had beer in hand for the ceremony), the pre-reception, and the concert. i think the total came out to about $11000 (which included all of our clothing, wedding party gifts, and all the little stuff that gits ya!).

it seems like a lot, and it is, but we would have paid just as much for a pre-fab wedding here in town/mountains.
what made it worth it, is it was truly the wedding WE wanted and really suited us. our ceremony was beautiful and our entire family was a part of it. i met some of the coolest BN people that day too, which are now part of my extended family.

My wife and I did that last april. The Flamingo has good wedding/room packages and we did our reception at M'ville. Too cool. The tix situation, try the box office group sales, but make sure to bring real parrotheads, because there are enough non fans in Vegas trying to tell you sit down during the show as it is...

As Q&S said, tickets are not cheap for the Vegas show. Floor seats are $210 and I think the cheap seats are $60 or $80.

As if the MGM didn't get ridiculous prices. We are not fans of the MGM for that reason. You guys see shows for MUCH less. As for the cheap seats, last row, way up, very back of the stadium, where its hard to see the jumbo TV's go for over $100. The fellow Parrotheads and the pre-party make it worth the effort....
The Eagles were getting almost $400 and the Stones almost $500, with the cheapest seats well over $100.
Its cheaper to go to SoCal to see a show...
Sorry for the rant.

I was a part of a PH wedding for Jimmy's last show in Vegas '04.
The happy couple got a really nice package deal from the MGM for marrying in their chapel, staying in a honeymoon suite, and including all photography and video.
The hotel even sent a limo to pick them up at the airport!
They were very happy with the whole deal, and most everything went off beautifully!
Check the MGM website for wedding chapel services. A wedding planner will contact you.
