Statler Brothers - I believe in Santa's cause
Amy Grant - Breath of Heaven
Kenny Chesney - All I want for Christmas is a real good tan

Sorry I couldn't just pick one.

I second that and yes I'm one of the few voted yes to turnips!

Fairytale of New York, by Ronan Keating with Maire Brennan, also done by the Pogues with Kirsty Maccoll

I also love the Trans Siberian Orchestra's version of Christmas Canon in D.

It's not technically a Christmas song, but Kenny G's (Lis- nah, too easy) version of Auld Lang Syne that he did for the Millenium was pretty neat.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

It just wouldn't be Christmas if I didn't hear the Crypt Keeper's "Deck the Halls with Parts of Charlie" at least once!

Thats always on the local radio station's list of worst Christmas songs.

By the way...speaking of Christmas tunes...does anybody here ever listen to Cape Cod's Cool 102? They play Buffett all the time, including a Friday afternoon "Buffett Buffet" and Sunday "Buffett Brunch."

I had them on today at work and they played Ho Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rhum. I can't imagine there are many stations out there that play as much Buffett as this one does.

Ok I just remembered an actual Christmas Song.

I would have to say my favorite Christmas song would be The Twelve Pains of Christmas. :D

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Yes, I do and I love it but hearing it just a couple times a year is good for me. :D I do like hearing some of their other songs though. If memory serves didn't they do the theme song for the short lived TV series back in the 80s called Square Pegs that brought us Sarah Jessica Parker and the now virtually forgotten Tracy Nelson (she did make a good female Seinfeld though)?

You are correct, sir!

(pretty damn annoying little jingle)

I remember Square Pegs, too, mostly for Jami Gertz and the mini-crush I had for Tracy Nelson (hey, it was the crazy '80's). :P

For all the people who mentioned T.S.O......

you are depriving yourself if you've only listened to their Christmas music. FAR AND AWAY their best work is the one non-holiday CD that they have....Beethoven's Last Night.

It ranks in my 5 favorite albums of all time.

"GrandMa Got Run Over By a Reindeer" has got to be one of the WORST earworms ever.

Yes on Manheim SteamRoller. Trans Siberian Orchestra is like them in at least some respects.

There are too many traditional songs for me to count to name just one.
I will admit sleigh bells always get my attention and always make me think of Christmas and riding through the snow on a cold bright night with a full moon, snuggled up under blankets with someone you love and care about, with the smell of the horses and pine and the scent of the snow and cold air.

Or even being out side alone and hearing them in the distance.....It it is own music with the clomp of the hooves if the horses get sweaty ....well then that is a different memorable experience.....
Roll with the punches, play all of your hunches...come what may...

Anyone mention Robert Earl Keene's "Merry Christmas from the Family" yet? I don't mind hearing that one at least once a year as long as it's not on John Boy and Billy where I have to hear all of their guffaws throughout the song.
