Oldest thing of MINE would be a handful of toys that survived my abuse.
Oldest thing HANDED DOWN to me would be a photo that my maternal grandfather owned. I vaguely remember it hanging in his house as a small child. When he passed away, it got hung in my bedroom because I had wood paneling that it looked good against. My mom allowed me to take it with me when turned 18 and moved out. It's been the first thing hung in every apartment of house that I've owned. In the original frame and all.
Looks like this ...
Love & Luck!
~Island Dog~
...nothin' to show but this brand new tattoo.
(see mine at the left)
... my girl, my friends & family, my boat, my music, and my dog... that's what livin' is to me.
I don't know....either my Great Grandmothers Memory book of all the places my Great Grandfather was a pastor ...some date back to 1894...his diploma from the Theological Seminary in Virginia from 1892...or a Tiffany Lamp my Grandmother left me.....
The book is great! Every newspaper clipping that mentioned him or his church...or a Potluck Supper...Flyers from Church Benefits...Some are hilarious!
I also have a letter from April 1918...signed by King George, on Windsor Castle letterhead...welcoming the Allied Troops overseas to join in "The Great Battle for Human Freedom".....My grandfather kept it and I framed it along with a picture of him in uniform....Had it authenticated a few years back..they want me to donate it to a museum...(The British Consulate)
"I know it's a shabby old building but after all ain't we God's children
And Lord it's a good place for hangin' out .."
The oldest thing is a 17th century English oak coffer.
My favorite old things are the Victorian glass bottles that we dug up in our garden in England, when we were erecting 186 ft. of post and rail fencing (after purchasing land from the adjoining field).
It turned hard labour into a a kind of archeological dig, LOL.

I have my grandfather's lapel pin from when he was a Mason. Not sure how old it is, though.
My husband has some things from when his grandfather was a fighter pilot in WWII. Please don't flame me for this.....b/c we only have this as sort of an "artifact" and not b/c it is something we believe in.....but we have a Nazi flag that he stole off the side of a building in Germany. It is HUGE......its like one of those long banners that hung down the side of a building. It is stuffed away in a closet right now b/c we're not sure what to do with it. It is in great condition, though. It feels sort of weird having that kind of thing in our house--but when he passed away, no one else wanted it, so hubby got it. We also have all his medals and some other stuff like that.
We also have a dollar bill autographed by Clark Gable. His grandfather met him in a bar during the war and got him to sign it.
A seat cushion for my wicker peacock chair. The chair was the first piece of furniture I bought in my 20s. The seat cushion was from my childhood chair, which had been my mother's childhood chair from when she was 6. Thus, the ratty old cushion is 83 years old, and my kitties like to curl up on it.
Some friends tried to clean out some of my old junk a few months ago when they were here to feed my dog while I was out of town. They threw out my seat cushion!!! Along with a lot of other stuff I like to have around. But I went through the trash bags and dug it out, ran it through the washing machine, and it's nowhere near as good as new!

A lady I know just wrote a biography with photos of the first presidential pilot who was from our town here-Tifton, Lt. Col. Henry Tift Myers. There's a photo of him in his den with a big Nazi flag on the wall, with a caption that quickly emphasizes that it was a souvenir from WWII Germany and not indicative of his beliefs.
I should have added, it's for sale for the right offer.
It was understood, Larry. No takers?

I have close to 300 pounds of fossils in the basment, do they count? They are REALLY old.
But coming for a long line of packrats, I have some very special treasures. A book "The Morality of Mr. Shakespear's Plays" is one of best. Published in 1775.
I also have 14 colonial notes. Hand printed and signed money from the Colonial Period of the U.S.A.
