Do you put Xmas lights up outside of your house?
We usually do, but haven't yet, as we're a bit caught up in a remodeling project.

Had them on my house, when I had one.
But will decorate the patio and a few windows of the apartment.. probably this weekend.

I help my dad every year, but neither of us have the patience to do too much. We're done in 30 minutes.

YUP! Up and running!
There is hell to pay from my wife if the lights aren't ready to turn on Thanksgiving night. That's the official start of the Xmas season at out house (see posting in Xmas song thread).

I usually put them up Thanksgiving weekend; but after getting home from Atlanta at about 3:30 Sunday, there wasn't time to string lights after I finished cutting the lawn and then getting in the pool to cool off.

Other - because Mal likes "others"
Seriously, I don't put them up because I don't spend Christmas in my home. I live by myself and no one really ever visits. Why go to all the work just to put them up and take them down?

You poor, poor thing.

Sore subject...
Short answer - We do it, but I sometimes wonder why we induce the frustration every year.
Long version - Every year we buy about 10 strings of lights, knowing that they'll be perfect year after year, but that never happens.
Last year we bought "commercial grade" (ha!) multi color icicle lights.
Saturday, we were gung ho to hang them. After going up onto the roof and back down about 5 times, we had the upper roof done, and 2 strings on the front of the garage up, and had to stop. 3 sets from last year didn't work for whatever reasons.
Sunday, I went to Sam's, where I had gotten last years, but they don't have the same ones. I picked up some from WalMart, thinking they might be similar, but the plugs weren't compatible. So I then went to Walgreens, Home Depot, and Target, before I finally found a similar set, with a compatible plug. We hung them to complete the garage and lower roof, and I had to stop so I could start making dinner.
The rest of it - bushes, porch, candy canes, and garage door all have to wait til next weekend, which was when I was planning to start the inside stuff. Serenity now!

My weekend foray into central Florida pushed some stuff back a bit. However we do have the icicle lights on three levels and functioning as of yesterday afternoon in the rain. Three spiral light trees and our row of lighted candy canes. Might add some well lit deer near the trees and some other new stuff. By the time I die, I want to be the Clark Griswald of 5th Av.

"other"
We put two spotlights on the house, one green, one red. It takes about ten minutes to set up. They're not up yet; can't face Christmas decorations until after December...
