Favorite Christmas Smells and Memory
Okies since the favorite songs have been covered, I decided to post this.
There are actually two smells that I associate with Christmas. One is the smell of pine trees/Christmas trees......and the other is the smell of citrus fruit......primarily oranges The cooking smells go without saying in my case....
I have several favorite Christmas memories and I will hold out on posting mine until later.....
Wouldn't it be great if eveyone would share the experience of the Spirit of Christmas and the magic of Christmas all year long? Of course not everyone will, but that does not nean you cannot do it or shouldn't do it. I do not mean the rush, and crowds and cutting people off for parking spaces or the snatching and grabbing.....I mean the THE TRUE SPIRIT of Christmas and the magic it works...
There will always be those who won't and they will always be there, but still it would be awesome and a better more pleasant world if people........
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!

My favorite Christmas memory is from when I was 8 years old. I was getting to the stage where Santa was becoming iffy... we were at my grandparents house that year and I was putting milk and cookies out for Santa while talking to my Grandpop about how I though mommy was Santa.. he just laughed it off and told me not to forget about the reindeer. I questioned him a bit but we ended up leaving a big aluminum bucket filled with apples in the yard. The next morning I woke up and the yard was filled with... apple cores... my grandfather was not one to waste food so he must have eaten every one of those apples.. just to keep my hope alive! He passed 7 years ago last week and every year thats what I remember most.
edited because I can't type this early

I have so many great Christmas memories. One of my favorites was at home with my family when I was about 8 years old, and my sister was 5. It was Christmas Eve and I remember being in my room and mom was reading us a story. Dad was taking a shower. It was our bedtime and mom wanted us to go to sleep so Santa would stop by. Just then...I heard something on the roof...and bells! We were so excited.
Apparently, dad had tricked us by leaving the shower on, going outside and hopping onto the roof. hehe It's one of my favorite memories though!
Favorite Christmas smells: cinnamon pine cones, fresh pine, snow!

Smell: In our house we had a laundry chute. Mom would set up the roaster in the utility room next to the laundry. The entire upstairs of the house would fill with the smells of roasting turkey thru the laundry chute.
Remember those little log cabin thingy's. You put the little mashed up pine thingy in the chimney and sparked it and the whole house would smell like a pine wood fire.
Mom's Christmas Cookies, mmmmmmmmmmmm
Memory: All the elaborate ways my Dad would think of to make it look like Santa had been to our house. About the time I was 5 or 6, we went to a Christmas party at my Aunts house. A couple of inches of snow fell while we were there. When we got home, there was one set of footprints in the snow and a dropped package, with a tag for me. It was a package of model train track. When we got in the house, the living room was filled with presents spilling out from under the tree. And my new train set was the first thing we opened

I remember that Christmas at mom's house and her stomach was torn up and she went in the bathroom and stunk the whole back of the house up and decided to use a can of Cinnamon Spice spray to cover up the stinch. I walked halfway down the hall, turned around, came into the livingroom and said "who crapped a cinnamon bun in the back?"
Needless to say my mom was mortified in front of our entire extended family.

When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

My mother and great-aunt always broke out the special "Shalimar" purfume.
My Grandma Levit baking Hoska (a Czechosolovakian bread).
My Grandma Moon cooking homemade fried chicken and chocolate cake.
The bread drying on the kitchen table that mom set out for the dressing for the turkey.
Favorite memories? When my parents gave me a stupid rubber duck when that song "Rubber Duckie" came out.
And when my mom, dad and I moved to CO and had no one here, my sister and BIL surprised us with a visit from IL.
