Hmmmm, maybe because it brings in more tourist dollars than any other sporting event. Oh wait, I know... because its one of the only sports with a "moral" clause that is actually executed. :P

Can you tell I grew up in a town that was supported by NASCAR dollars?
Driving a car isn't a sport.
this coming from a man that rides the train.....
Getting a seat on said train IS a sport
I always gave up my seat for the elderly
a rarity on the subway here

Speaking of riding the train ...

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which runs the Long Island Railroad, has a surplus this year so they decided to do something for the regular commuters. Did they lower the fares? No. Did they give us a discount on our monthly tickets for December? No. Anyone who buys a monthly ticket for December gets a free 10 trip off-peak ticket. The monthly ticket entitles you to unlimited trips during the calendar month so a 10 trip off-peak ticket, even if it's free, is useless to a regular monthly commuter. Why give it to us?

And remember, it's the lack of thought that counts...

Oh, can I have it then? I can use it for Knicks games when I take the train into the city. Yes, I am a flagellant.

I do have question of my own:
What is a Saluki? It comes up every year when Southern Illinois makes March Madness, but no one has ever solved it.
