Pirate looking at 40
Woke up this morning to the thought that two months from today I'll be 40 (not that I'm dwelling or anything....)
I need suggestions on the best way to celebrate. Possibilities so far include a quick jaunt to somewhere hot (Sipping a pain killer in Virgin Gorda is my personal favorite but probably cost prohibitive), a larger than normal birthday party, or a weekend with friends down in Newport.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks

Indecision may or may not be my problem....

You can do Newport almost any time.....McGee wrote:Woke up this morning to the thought that two months from today I'll be 40 (not that I'm dwelling or anything....)

Instead of Virgin Gorda, how about Key West? Or somewhere else in Florida? Lots cheaper.... (Southwest has some pretty good deals right now...)

I don't remember the details of the celebrating, but I do know I ordered a 1988 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible. Dark blue with a white top and white leather seats.
Dang, I loved that car. As soon as I got out for the next summer we drove all along the coast from Texas to Florida and up the east coast on US 1 and eventually to Washington, DC.
Surprised I can remember back that far too! Ain't life grand!

quit your job, buy a bar, learn guitar and write songs. this way no matter how bad you are you can always hire yourself to play every ight in your bar. that's my goal when the 4-0 hits in 6 years and 2 weeks.
go somewhere you've never been before, it may be st. somewhere or mt. anywhere, but celebrate it, mark it, remember it and have stories to tell of it.

I spent my 40th birthday alone in Fenway Park, watching the Red Sox play the Tigers from a field box seat. What a blast!
It was during my pre-BN time, or I'm sure I wouldn't have been alone...

Re: Pirate looking at 40
My birthday is January 29th. My 40th was a couple of years ago, and I hit the jackpot. Jimmy was playing in Hawaii the day before my birthday. I made everyone in my family mad and got on a plane and left. The greatest way in the world to spend your 40th is with a loved one at a JB concert in Hawaii. My advice is to wait and see if Jimmy is playing anywhere, much less Hawaii, near the date of your birthday. The 2006 schedule should be out soon. Trust me on this - everyone will cut you a lot of slack on your 40th. I had family members planning surprise parties, etc. Forget all that and do what you want to do. Go see JB wherever he is playing. I hate to sound like a Nike commercial, but Just Do It.McGee wrote:Woke up this morning to the thought that two months from today I'll be 40 (not that I'm dwelling or anything....)
