You can probably be pretty creative for free.

I only throw the cabana boy overboard so I can give him mouth to mouth afterwards!

This is a FUN year at our house.
Hubby and I usually do gifts that take thought. ...Like last year at MOTM, Capt' Tony told James to buy me a bigger diamond (AFTER he stuck his tongue in my mouth...I DESERVED IT!

) So I got a 3 diamond ring, a full day at the spa and 600 minutes of tanning.
This year we have to go to Nashville on the 11th. I am post-poning most until then. I'm taking my Jim with me. He's 15. He gets to help buy everything this year and pick out a few things for himself. (He doesn't know about the stereo for him we already have!) Anyhow, he gets to be Santa for Mollie (who's 6 and 1/2). He loves her and has already helped her write Santa and knows what she wants. He's a good brother and I am enjoying watching them bond!
I already gave my Mom her gift.

Her microwave died and I got her a new one yesterday. We usually spend about $150 on her, then about $30 to $50 on my niece and nephews each. Then I have friends I buy for since I'm an only kid now

and my in-laws live far away.

when i think about it, my budget is pretty meaningless. I've got stuff tucked away that I forgot about. I pick things up here and there. I"ll look at what I got and decide on of the kids looks shortchanged.

I think the last two years we agreed on a Soft limit of 20-25$

I was always right on budget..
Santa??This year one side of my Fanily isn't giving anything..
( I am cooking Mom and Dad dinners to freeze so they don't have to cook
for at least 6 meals)
the other side of the Family we draw names and my Drawee
is getting a 25$ gift card. (hey it's what her Husband told me to get.)
My T/L almost fainted when I peeled off 30$ for a family we are
Adopting.
I hope to hear from my PH club on what that adopted family
needs.
Toys for tots already got one drop off
and another coming for work..

I really try not to set limits, I just try to find something that the other person would like. If it costs a bunch, then so be it. If it costs a little, goody for me!

I've spent upwards of $50 on the BN gift exchange, but that's because after I got "THE" gift, I saw more stuff I wanted to buy that person!

Didn't matter though, I also rather give than receive, and I figure I can always make more money!
The kids...never a budget there either. One year we spend "X" amount of dollars, and the next year it's "Y" amount of dollars. Just depends on what's on their list. But LAST year was a whopper - I'd be embarrassed to even say what I spent on those brats...errr...I mean angels! I went WAY overboard - but I did very well with work so it wasn't the struggle that it usually is.
Unfortunately, this year I'm at a loss for things to get them. Their list is all video games and things I refuse to buy them (like a pool table

, another dog

, Xbox 360

, a sister

). I'm struggling just to FIND something to buy them - which leads me to believe that they have everything.
Next year - hopefully when the whole "I believe in Santa" thing is over, maybe I can convince them that a vacation over Xmas would be the best present. Works for me!

That's what i've been trying to convince my older keets. I think i'm just going to go for it next year. The problem is it can't be during christmas as one son has track meets thru most of his winter break.

i try to budget myself but usually get carried away
8 nieces and nephews @ 50.00=400.00
1 sibling ( we draw names) @ 50.00= 50.00
parents--------------------------------= 200.00
no girlfriend this year otherwise that would be another 200-300
charities------------100.00
total this year probably..........850.00

Santa always spends too much, but loves every minute of it!!
This year my budget goes to cd's and mailing them as Christmas cards, BN Christmas cards and being a Secret Santa

It is a holiday tradition to spend way too much at Christmas. By the time New Years arrives, Christmas spending will have long passed the comma stage.
