First of all, teh Big east was meant to be a basketball conference, and they lost any respectability as a power football conference when VA Tech, Miami, and BC jumped ship.

so why should a good team like West Virginia be penalized because of the ACC? Give it a few years, and some heavy recruiting - teams like Louisville, USF, Cincinatti and Pittsburgh have potential. I don't doubt the argument the Big East is weaker than it used to be-but that doesn't mean there aren't any good teams in the conference. (hello-we've been competitive with Va Tech and Miami for years and it's a strong football program)

WVU is worthy of the Sugar Bowl...just as much as Georgia is. Should be a good matchup.

I wish the BCS would just go away,3 years ago Georgia won the SEC title,and had to pla y a 4 loss FSU team,because they won the ACC,now its WV,maybe they're not all that bad,I mean they only lost one,but the Big East is so week as far as the teams go.And really Georgia doesnt belong there either,they won or back into the East division champion,but it should have been LSU-UA rematch.Instead of two divisions they should line em up one through 11,and one plays two...thats how it should be

I agree-the Big East as a football conference is weak and it's really not fair to WVU-at all. No matter how good a team we have, our schedule isn't as challenging as it once was...and we will always be defending our position, whether it's a national ranking or a spot in a BSC bowl... Nobody will ever give the Mountaineers proper credit unless we're playing alot more ranked teams. *sigh*

oh well, basketball season is upon us and I'm hella-excited to be playing louisville, marquette, depaul, cincinatti now! Bring on the Big East!

Conference alignment aside, West Virginia has been a historically strong football school for decades. They deserve to be in any major bowl.

I have to keep defending the Mountaineers, but seriously, they have a good football program!
