Because they CAN!!! NO IF'S AND's OR BUT'S

But if you look at your gas gauge---there should be a lil arrow pointing to the right or Left-----that tells you where your gas tank is, just incase you always forget.

OH MY GOD! I never knew that! (Such a sheltered life I've lived! ) I had to run a quick errand just now, and happened to glance at the gas gauge, and sure enough!

This is ALMOST as fascinating as determining whether the light in the refrigerator goes out when you close the door. (But it made me look!)

The fridge thing....just empty it out, climb in, and close the door. You'll have your answer!!!!!

Mine have always been on the drivers side, thank goodness. It just seems natural to have it handy when you get out to fill up your own gas tank.

Why would they make you walk around to the passenger's side? My husband used to have a car for a short while that was passenger side, and it was always hard to remember.

Design of the car, and placement of the exhaust pipe. Many different reasons..

Plus it gives you a chance to look at the side of the car you don't normally look at so you could take a look at tires, or any damage you might not have noticed. :)

Okay, fess up. Who has done this?

Pull up to the pump, get out of the car to pump gas, and realize your tank is on the other side. Then, you get in the car, drive right around to the other side of the pump, get out, and realize your tank is still on the other side!

The car is on the driver side. The motorcycle is in front of me, right between my legs.
