Stephen King's Top 6 Albums of 2005

From the Philadelphia Inquirer:
Finally, the moment that music lovers have been waiting for:
author Stephen King has annointed the best albums of 2005 for
Entertainment Weekly. Having the horror novelist pontificate on the
year's best music strikes us as akin to having your butcher select
the best films of the year, but we digress.
Here are King's Top Six (apparently no one explained to him it's
traditional to go with a number divisible by five):
Delirium Tremolos, by Ray Wylie Hubbard. "Alt-country with its slow
groove on."
Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1, by Jackson Browne. "Doctor, I think the fever
has broken."
Kicking Television, by Wilco. "This live set is just about right,
swinging between tender and angry."
All Jacked Up, by Gretchen Wilson. "Best country album of the year,
hands down."
Childish Things,by James McMurtry. "Like Dylan's early tales,
McMurtry's songs bear repeated listenings."
If You Didn't Laugh, You'd Cry, by Marah. "Probably the best rock
band in America that nobody knows."

Same here. He's also a DBTs fan and has mentioned the almighty (but now sadly defunct) Slobberbone in one of his novels so Lord knows where Retchin' fits into that picture.

Perhaps, she definitely looks like something out of one of his horror movies and that's
with makeup on.

Which brings to mind the timeless phrase, "beauty is in the eye of the beerholder".

and where better to test that theory than within 40 miles of Augustus Busch's little operation on So. Broadway?

I must admit, I was afraid of what I'd walk into here, but it's actually quite pleasant! And this coming from me, who likes Gretchen, and respects her accomplishments!

Yeah, Jah and I are getting along today. Don't tell anyone. We have a reputation to maintain.

Of COURSE, he'd love to 'get aquainted with' Gretchen.
Have you seen a picture of his wife?
Bless her heart.

It just goes to show you that we
can get along if everyone plays nice and that goes
both ways.

And just to stay on topic, Wretched as you call her, is the only one I've heard of either, but I don't get out much, so that's not saying anything really.

You've never heard of Jackson Browne?
I've heard of all of them except Marah, but Jackson Browne is the only one whose music I'm even remotely familiar with.
I saw Gretchen Wilson sort of up close when she appeared on the Today Show when
Redneck Woman was a hit. Anyone who thinks she's anywhere near to good looking needs an eye exam. Quick. I wouldn't do her with someone else's unit and 3 people pushing from behind.

well, the videos of Gretchen probably make her look a bit better than she is in real life. Favourable makeup and lighting; no shooting on days she's retaining water (or too much Budweiser); etc.
