Thanks for jostling a memory Todd!
(and I fixed the which/whom thing)

A group of us from Purdue's band were on tour in Venezuela back in the late 70's. One of our stops involved laying a wreath at Simon Bolivar's tomb at the National Pantheon in Caracas. An impressive place.

Thanks... went with the which because of the reference to the country, but bow to better grammarians.

I also hate the phrase "and what not". It just doesnt make any sense when you are including something to a group.

I don't know how this didn't come up yet, but there are a few wonderful things that New Yorkers tend to say that drives me beyond crazy.

Most people in the country say "Ask" - New Yorkers say "Axe"
"Can I axe you a question?"
"No frikkin way!"

Most people in the country stand "in line" at a store - New Yorkers stand "on line" (WTF?! On line is the internet - when you are physically present standing at a register or where-ever, you become part of the line, hence you are "in" it.)
"Excuse me. Are you on line?"
"No you old stupid hag. I'm waiting in line to pay for this junk."

Most people in the country say Houston as "Hew-stun" - New Yorkers say "House-ton" (This is because the houses on what eventually became Houston Street were some of the first on Manhattan to have yards - hence House Town. It stuck.)
word to any who might visit: Remember this wehn asking for directions and you'll sound that much less like an out of town goober - that's a good thing.

Apparently, they all have standards. Or have become so horrified that they switched teams.

If they've swtiched teams, that's OK. I can live with a few ladies of the other team before i give Shane a call.
