found it, here was my original post:
UpstateNYPH wrote:For those of you like me who have carriers like Verizon and have a tough time finding Buffett ringtones, try this website. www.mobile17.com I am not trying to promote this, I have no affiliation with it, but it lets you send music files from your PC to your phone via a text message, picture message, or email. It is so far the only way I have got Jimmy on my phone. Plus its FREE. I have a real audio ringtone of Margaritaville on their now, not one of those beepy sounding crappy tones. I suggest you try it out, I have been sending songs to my phone all day. :D

Go to the web site called planet ringtone

http://www.unlimitedringtones.com/default.aspx?cid=301

you can download the program to your computer and make anything you want into a ringtone.
I think it costs about 15.00 for 3 phones, unlimited converts
My phone has some really unique ringtones ,that I have made from their program

I have Verizon and you can just e-mail them to your phone for like a quarter (yes, $0.25) each. Of course, that means you have to make them yourself (or get them from someone else).

If you're really adventurous and technically savvy, you can get a cable the connects via USB to most newer cell phones and just copy them down that way for free.

I made my own ringtone from One Particular Harbour (from Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays) and copied it myself. That was 6 months ago and it's still my active ringtone!!!

I downloaded a couple songs, but when I went to assign them as my ringtone, an error message came up saying "Cannot Assign Non-DRM Content As Ringer." :(

If you have a Sprint phone go to www.sprintusers.com and use the free focus tool. There are instructions on the site to make ringtones and upload them. You can also upload pictures with it. I have made ringtones from Midi files of:

Barometer Soup
Boat Drinks
Brown Eyed Girl
Fins
Margaritaville
One Particular Harbor
School Boy Heart
Southern Cross
The Weather is Here...
Volcano

If anybody wants any or all of these files for your phone either post it here or send me a PM and I will e-mail them to you. I'm sure you can use them on any phone system.

It probably all depends on your service/service provider. The one I made was an MP3 and had no problems assigning it as a ringtone on my phone (Motorola E815)

For anyone who wants it, PM me. I have no problems sharing it.

I did everything the site said to do. I have a Samsung phone with Verizon service. It said my phone was compatible. Used an MP3 file. Just not working for whatever reason.
