To the best I can figure Trippin' Billies just simply refers to a bunch of hillbilly types trippin'... There's some weird ass lyrics in there so that's the best I can come up with....

Glad I'm not normal, cause it is a groovin tune that makes me and a whole lot of other people stand up and dance. Even Jimmy's version grooves. It's a great song. No idea on the title, when you find out tell me.

i have no idea. But DMB is one of my favorite bands and I've taken some heat on these boards for it. I love the song too but have no idea what it means.
PS, I also think Dave's sexy.

I think billies refers to police officers and trippin refers to, well, trippin.

Here is one explanation

You guys all did miss the point of the song by the way, and this interpretation is taken straight from what Dave himself says before he played the song on Vh1 Storytellers.
This is about the first time he took acid .. he was on a beach with friends and when he took the acid he decided he did not want to trip .. but the acid got him and he decided to just go with it. They had a blast sitting around a camp fire and the next thing he knows he is talking to the cops. This song is about all the fun he had and the fact he did not want it to end ..
