That's a great lesson, "Yes, you were right, we were wrong, but since you didn't blindly follow us, you are no longer our friend." Haven't you ever made a mistake that a friend tried to talk you out of? Did you cut off communication with that friend even after you found out he or she was right and you were wrong?

By the way, if it wasn't for France, we would have British accents and still be subjects of the queen.
Just a little history note on France. The French did not come to our aide during the american revolutionary war. In fact, France's occupation and involment in that was actually a continuation of the French and Indian Wars that started in 1754. It spilled over into North America as a dispute over the Ohio River Valley between Brittain and France. The French saw the only way to occupy and claim the land along the Ohio River would be to help the Colonial Militia defeat the British. The French, however, underestimated the Colonial Militia, and a the newly formed government of the United States of America grew and gained strength, the French viewed the USA as a threat to their prosperity and land acquisition in North America, a threat that eventually led to the French American wars. The French saw the revolutionary war as a means to control North America, nothing more. No humanitarian efforts on this one. Unlike the Americans that truely came to the aid of the French in WW1, where we helped liberate France and gained nothing other than a lot of dead Americans.

And I love YOU, Cate. Yes, peace on earth. (And in Nova Scotia, too). 8)
