burning mp3's
why when I burn an mp3 might it not play in my car. My son's mp3's do play, so clearly it plays mp3's.. They play in the house and on the pc. So I must have finalized them.
Also, does anybody think brand name or price matters for blank cd's?

Re: burning mp3's
depends on whether the player can play mp3 coded-tracks. Memorex makes good ones. Tho, it all depends on who actually manufacturers them; all the CDR sellers buy from manufacturers depending on who has the best price, and then they relabel them as their own.OceanCityGirl wrote:why when I burn an mp3 might it not play in my car. two possible reasons:
1) As Burny says, make sure you're burning a CD in CD audio format, not just putting MP3s on a CD. While some newer CD players are capable of reading a CD-ROM with MP3s on it, most are not. So if yours doesn't specifically state that it plays MP3s, make sure you're creating an actual Audio CD, which is encoded in such a way that CD players can read it.
2) Some older cd players have trouble reading burned CDs. It used to make me crazy on my minivan - some days it would play the thing just fine, and some days it wouldn't play at all. It always read regular (stamped) CDs fine, just wasn't good with burned ones.

To guarantee proper file formatting, I recommend using iTunes (for PC).
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
It's easy to use, it's great for organizing your setlists, and it's free!
You do have to have a broadband Internet connection... doesn't work with dial-up.
Even though I'm a Mac addict, I got all my friends with PC's into iTunes and now they swear by it... not at it!

I'm attempting to burn mp3 format on a cd. My car unit plays mp3's and cd's. It's probably one of the earlier cd players that read mp3's. Some mp3's play on it some don't. I"m using Roxio Easy CD creator. I select new project, then mp3. When I burn a cd using the cd format it plays pretty much every time.As Burny says, make sure you're burning a CD in CD audio format, not just putting MP3s on a CD

Re: burning mp3's
I've had problems trying to play "burned" CD's in an older cd player...(read, It doesn't play them at all) they work on all of the other players in the house and cars....OceanCityGirl wrote:why when I burn an mp3 might it not play in my car. Yeah, from my experiences with roxy in doing the other things, like putting picture slide shows to music, it sucks.Burny Charles wrote:I'd suggest abondoning roxy and use a different program. I like using iTunes for music anyway.
