John Prine?

Post by pamesoo »

A friend has two extra tickets to a John Prine concert and has offered them to us (to buy, of course). I am not familiar with this artist. Anyone recommend/not recommend this guy?

The little bit of him I've heard on RM I've liked a lot. I'd probably take the opportunity and go if I could.

Do not hesitate, GO! Prine's song will make you laught or cry, sometimes in the same song.

He is terrific! He, Steve Goodman, and Jimmy all started around the same time, and played a lot of the same clubs back then.

NP...wasn't sure if John Prine was a "related artist" or not!! :-?

Thanks for your input, everyone! I have located a few of his songs...I think I like what little I've heard so far... :)

Yes! Go! Do not miss the chance to see John Prine. Usually he plays with his band for a bit and then plays and sings for about an hour by himself. My favorite song is Angel From Montgomery with Nanci Griffith, but there are so so many. OOPS

I watched my DVD last night and realized the song I really like the best is Speed of the Sound Of Loneliness with Nanci Griffith.
His lyrics are just wonderful.

Read these at this site managed by one of his biggest fans.

This link has a lot of stuff about the song Paradise.

I saw him 15 years ago, having never heard of him beforehand... and he was great!

I saw Prine for the first time earlier this year. I will never, ever miss another show!

You should buy "Fair & Square", his latest CD to get acquainted with him. He has the amazing ability to paint a clear picture in his music and he has the ability to look at life through other people's eyes.

Also buy "Great Days" the 2 CD anthology. You get a biographical booklet which also contains the story behind his most popular songs. It's really cool to read.

John Prine has got to be one of the best singer songwriters out there and he is always good in concert. I've seen him at least 10 times and never been disappointed.

I had the honor, nay, the privilege of seeing John Prine last summer in NYC at the historic Town Hall. The difference between a seasoned professional like John and what passes for talent on the award shows these days was revealed at performances such as those. I had been a fan based on various CDs and his connection to Goodman. Now it's all good. :-)
