Any NEW XM radio people?

I know, I know...Jimmy is on Sirius, but XM is what came in our new van.
They give you a free 3 month trial, and they they hope you are hooked and will shell out the $12.95 a month.
BUT I just called them, and sounding confident said "I would like the $77 a year promo you are offering. You sent me an email about it". (Actually a friend told me about it.)
Next thing you know, I have XM for $6.41 a month!
So if Santa brought any of you XM, you now can get a deal on the subscription due to the best kept secret.

It came with my new car. I got hooked INSTANTLY. I knew by the third day I could never listen to regular radio again. I subscribed for a year. I think I pay $7 a month. It's really a great deal. SO MANY channels and no commercials. Plus, being from NJ, I was a HUGE Opie and Anthony fan. They are on 202, so I'm in heaven.

Don't shell out the bucks to get it installed. I just installed SIRIUS in my car. It took me maybe 10 minutes. I have no mechanical skills at all. If I can install it, I bet anybody can installit it. Good luck!

I have XM it came in my Yukon and they offered it to me for $60 for the year. I am thinking of trying to switch the XM receiver for a Sirius receiver since it is built into the factory stereo. Jimmy and Stern on Sirius how can you loose.

I have a new car with XM, came with 3 months of free radio, didn't work in the car so I thought I had to activate it. So after 2 months I called to activate, they told me it was activated when I left the dealership 2 months ago, they reactivated it and told me I only have 1 month left on the free service. I feel like I got ripped off for 2 months of free radio. I do like it and plan to renew, I'll try for the $77 year promo.

Santa brough Sirius for Christmas. I attempted to install today and kept getting a message reading "antenna not detected". Has anyone else experienced this problem and have any suggestions? I figure I will give it another shot tomorrow before i break down and spend the $75 to have it professionally installed.

You need to call back and ask to talk to a supervisor. I had called to activate mine, and the dealership had already did it too. I think they do it so they can listen to the radio while they detail it!
But really, you need to call back and insist that the dealership didn't tell you, and you missed out on a month. Or tell them that "your friend" got XM for $60 a year, and you will settle for that since you were jiped out of a month or two.
OR better yet, tell them that they are not consumer friendly, so you are switching out your radio for Sirius. THEY WILL try to make you happy then.
Good Luck!

The guide says:
Receiver displays: “ANTENNA NOT DETECTED” try....
The satellite antenna is not connected to the Receiver. Check satellite antenna connection to the Receiver.
or
The antenna or the antenna cable is faulty. Contact your installer,
dealer, or retailer, or, SIRIUS Product Support at 1-800-869-5590

You may need to move your antenna. I had to sit mine on a window in my home. I had to move it around a few times before it picked up a signal.

even if its not activated you should pick up channel 184, i think it is, the preview channel
you may not have the antenna plugged in all the way.

antenna needs to face the north central US for best reception

If it is is on the rooftop of yor car the direction it is pointing is not that significant. I have had sirius for well over a year and my antenna is mounted inside my convertible Jeep and I can receive a signal while it is parked in my garage.
If you can have the receiver wired directly into your car radio I strongly recommend it, the sound quality and volume is much better than using the FM modulator.
As for the prices I paid the $499 for lifetime service, after you have it for a few months and realize it is the only way to listen to radio you will realize what a deal it is.

I am on my second receiver while on the plan and they just switched it over for a $10 activation fee

What receiver did you get? I have really been looking hard at the S50,but want to hear from someone I know that has, not internet blog sites.
