Holy Expensive Textbooks Batman!!!

I'm going back to school in January and was just about to register for my classes. Books are so danged expensive!!!

Almost $400 for the classes I wanted to take (not very many used versions available). Looks like I'll be taking 1 class instead of 2. I'll need a 2nd mortgage to pay for the books!! Holy freakin' crap!!!

Hopefully sometime before my daughter graduates high school in 9 years I'll have my BA in Journalism/PR, but if all goes well I'll have my AA the Spring of 2007. Yay me!!

USED books my friend USED.

I believe Ann started a thread about used books a few weeks back.

When I was in college I always looked for used books - especially if I could buy them from someone that had taken the class the previous semister.

My classes are online, so it's been tricky finding used ones. Now I'm remembering Ann's thread from a while back. Maybe she'll be nice and repost the the link!

Mal- from my experience, my advice is to NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy your textbooks from the school's bookstore. They're terribly overpriced. You're much better off going to Amazon for your textbooks. Independent sellers have textbooks at great prices. I sell my textbooks there. You can also check out Half.com.

See what I had to say on this subject earlier:

Yup... Use those links above.. I bought all of my books from cheapesttextbooks.com (or something like that) my last two years of school and saved a bundle!

Thanks everyone!

At least now I don't feel like I'm being raped on book prices. Good golly it's pricey to be smart!

I'm 2 semesters into finishing my degree, going online as well. My books are actually included in my tuition (just over $4k/semester). Luckily my employer is giving me full tuition reimbursement. (Actually that's a BIG reason why I took the job)

I second what everyone said. Check around. I found mine quite a bit cheaper through Amazon.
