Is that Hatteras light house in your avatar?
I went there this past summer... stayed up in Nags Head for a week.
Here's probably my favorite pic of Hatteras I took:

Remember everybody if you go to Hatteras lighthouse make sure and go out to the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. They are involved in restoring a Fresnal lense ala ASPOL. They have videos about the search for the lense and parts and it is very similar to JB's book. If you feel lead be sure to give them a tiny donation. They are doing excellent work preserving our sea heritage. OBX is one of my fave places to vacation. I will be heading back there in mid march with the usual group of surfer sons and friends.

Oh yeah, and the title to that page (upper middle)... does that font look familar?

What a wonderful trip you had!
Driving, diving, sailing, surfing, and best of all, climbing to the top of the lighthouse!! Wow!
Thanks for sharing. I love the ones of the eagle too!

Yeah... We were told that story about how it was moved... that is one heck of an engineering feat.
