Just let us locals know when you want us to meet you at Margaritaville! :D
Let's say every night about 7. Adult beverages are needed after days at the parks!
Perfect!!!!

Sounds like a plan!
(And you probably won't get carded at Margaritaville)
But if you are carded--make sure you have a legal ID.
Oh, I do. I guess some people (bouncers) just think I look a lot younger!

I won't leave it in the room, or bar this time!
Kari
It's a long story, but a BNer got caught with fake ID

Shakerofsalt, you also have a child competing in the band stuff? I'm thinking it will be really crowded but then again, it's always been crowded when I've visited Orlando.

OOOOOH I LOVE Disney....been many, many times. Can't believe no one brought up the "Drink around the World" challenge! When you get to World Showcase at Epcot, you start at either Canada or Mexico, get a beverage from each country and drink till you get to the final destination on the other side (I think there are 11 countries...)
Other places to procure a fine cocktail: the Belle Vue Room (Boardwalk), Mizner's (Grand Floridian), Gurgling Suitcase (Old Key West), the Adventurer's Club (Pleasure Island), Bongo's (Disney West Side), and DEFINTELY be sure to snag a Mai Tai or a margarita (or both) at the Polynesian's Barefoot Bar or the bar outside 'Ohana (upstairs in the Great Ceremonial House).

ETA: The bar at the Polynesian is called the Tambu Lounge...it's got the thatched roof top & tons of tropical drinks and bar bites.

STAY ON PROPERTY! You may pay a little extra for a room, but you'll save it in parking and headache. Also, if you're getting a little overwhelmed, there's a great book called "The Unofficial guide to Walt Disney World" I am not usually a fan of travel guides, but this one really is pretty good and helps you surf through all the BS

If you like useless trivia, I put together quite a collection of random stuff for our trip. Let me know, I'll send it to you
Beachcombers ride, children lost in the tide
Time's never at your command
Waves melt all castles of sand

OK... trying to get on the ball and get somewhat organized...

I need to make my reservations for my Dining Package... we'll be there Sat 11/18 morning to Sat 11/25 evening... 8 days.

Where do you recommend we eat our dinners / main meals? Any can't miss experiences for me, hubby, and 8 and 10 year old daughters?

The main ones are my concern at this time, but if you want to suggest snacks / lunches, that's ok too.

Thanks in advance! :D

And what would be the best day to do non-Disney stuff, like rent a car to see the ocean, take in Margaritaville, etc? In other words, a notoriously busy day of the week at Disney?

We don't do the dining package......it is hard to be in the right places at the right times to eat.
It might be cheaper not buying the package.

So many suggestions, but I have to get my oil changed right now... I will post later!!!

Our trips to Disney are most likely January 7-11, 2007, and January 16-21, 2008 (still hammering out the details for 2008, but I think that one is going to be a family reunion!) :)

Just a suggestion: That is very close to the rumored JB shows in Florida. Orlando is about an hour from Tampa, about two hours from Jacksonville, and about four hours from Miami. Keep an eye on the tour dates, and maybe you can add a JB show to your trip.

Sea World... bottom line!

BTW - Where did you end up booking a place at? If on the resort, I can vouch for the Beach Club (my honeymoon) and the Animal Kingdom Lodge (this past June)... Plus, I grew up in Orlando with the Season Passes so if you have any ?'s.. just PM me!
