Some people...

I deal with alot of "interesting" people through my job, and after 8 years, I've pretty much heard it all. However, every once in a while some real Grade-A, Deluxe Model, Limited Edition, Top-of-the-Line schmuck will come off with something that leaves me speechless and/or LMFAO.
I just got off the phone with an older woman (70-ish) who told me, and I quote
"I'm not prejudiced. Really, I'm not. Not even against those blacks."
Thanks for keepin' it interesting, Lady...

Back when my wife was in real estate at ERA she had some old guy call here up looking for land.
While asking about the property he asked her "there's not any n*ggers in the area are there?".
She kept cool and just passed the call to someone else

I hear stuff like that pretty often. At least those folks don't try to hide it.

I have mentioned by boss before ..... but yesterday took the cake....
At our daily meeting he says.... "And Susan placed (couldnt pronounce his name so he said) a slur for India born person.

I looked at him .... considered shutting my mouth... but then said... Excuse me, I am offended (as was the Indian gal that works in my office I am sure)... this is how you pronounce his name. What a JERK!!!
And we are in Human Resources ..... I still cannot believe it!

We get people calling and insisting on being transferred to our office, rather than one in Sydney - as we speak "english" ... being a smaller city - we are mainly anglo-saxon Australians ... as opposed to the multi cultural Sydney ...... It bugs me ...... these people are australian citizens to work for the Government ...
I got told to go to hell yesterday - but that is par for course in our job

Could have been my grandmother who passed at 96, except replace "those blacks" with "dem darkies"

or my grandmother who is still alive at 157, although she still prefers the term "colored"

My grandmother disliked Asians. She said it was a holdover from WWII. When asked why she didn't hate Germans for the same reasons, she said that they were too hard to pick out.

Several years ago, I was refereeing a girls 5-6th grade basketball game by myself. As it is, those games were always tough because of the ages and that some girls have started to go through puberty and are much more physical than the girls that haven't. There was a loose ball around half-court, and a bigger, physical girl and a tall, skinny girl were both going for it and got tangled up, and the skinny girl got hurt and started to cry. It wasn't even the girl's mother, but another mother came up to me and told I was doing a horrible job, which was not true according to the CYO board member at the game, and told me in front of little kids, including her own (like as young as toddlers), and I quote "to go F*ck myself" when I told her that I was doing the best I could considering there were supposed to be two refs.
It wasn't so much that she cursed at me, but that (a) you should always respect the ref no matter what. If you think he was that bad, then vent on the ride home, and (b) she cursed in front of dozens of kids, including her own toddlers.

I was caught in what I refer to now as the "Pom-pom Fight 2005/6". The coach for the cheerleaders (on the team my daughter cheered) is a friend. Another Mom is also a friend and a closer one at that. At an early season game, as we were wrapping up and clearing the sideline, the coach handed a white pom-pom (we have a white and a red) to the friend's daughter. It was very ratty and torn up. The Mom saw this and got UPSET. Each girl had a pair of pom-poms. All were in good shape...except this white one. Friend believed is was done out of malice for the child not being a "pro" at 6 years old. The coach refused to fix the problem or get her another one. We, that night, put names on our pom-poms. Well, after weeks of feuding and both of them calling me to vent, it blew up. Both the coach and the Mom calling each other names, using the "F" word and basically being horrible. I was SHOCKED. I'd never seen either act that way before. I guess it's all worked out now. The girl DID get a new pom-pom (from the 2 extra pair the coach had the whole time!!

) and next year, we won't be on the team with EITHER!

I worked for a smallish company where the boss (he was in his late 40's ten years ago) would always bring in a cake for someone's birthday. He would get everyone together to sing "Happy Birthday" and then we would get a slice of cake and go back to work. This was how it went every couple of weeks. Well, he hired this young woman, 18 or 19 and when her birthday came around, not only did he have us sing but he asked her if she would like to be spanked! He then proceeded to grab her and pull her toward him, as if to put her over his knee.

She let out a scream, punched him in the face and ran out of the office. She didn't come back to work, ever. That was the last time he bought a cake for anyone.

I'm still amazed he didn't get sued for his behavior.
