Sirius To Launch Playboy Radio Channel

Playboy Radio is coming to Sirius Satellite Radio in early 2006. Through an agreement with Playboy Enterprises, Sirius will launch a 24/7 channel featuring new, live programming originally created for the radio service.

The deal with Sirius is round two in satellite radio for Playboy, which originally launched a channel on XM Satellite Radio in September 2002. XM's offering was a premium channel, which never quite gained traction. The contract with XM expired last year.

Sirius will offer Playboy at no additional cost, but subscribers will need to "opt-in" for the channel via phone or the Internet. Subscribers can also block the channel through its parental control system.

The new channel will originate from Playboy's Andrita Studio in Los Angeles with remotes from the Playboy Mansion. Personalities and elements from the Playboy magazine, the Web site and Playboy TV, Playboy Playmates, Playboy editors, will have a regular presence on the channel, including founder Hugh Hefner who will have a regular segment in The Playboy Radio Morning Show called "Ask Hef Anything."

Call me innocent. What would the majority of the content be? Playboy is more of a "visual" thing it seems....this is RADIO.

My guess would be it would be a little more graphic than Maxim radio....kind of like on there they have 'guess paula's panties' on fridays ( I think that's it), I guess they would have stuff like that....maybe Playboy letters (instead of Penthouse letters). But that's just a guess.

From someone who has been a subsriber to playboy for 20 years the articles and stories are some of the best in any magazine.Don't get me wrong I like the pictures

but I usually flip through once and look at them and enjoy reading the articles the rest of the month

Hmmm, if I look at the pictures first I can't read the articles .... the pages end up all stuck together and darn near impossible to peel apart.

My hubby was watching the girls next door or whatever its called on A&E..yeah I couldn't listen to them talking for more than 5 minutes...he ended up muting it and just watching...

That's why I can't understand all the commotion about Howard Stern being on Sirius. So he can say ***** without being bleeped. Wow, I'm impressed.

Howard made a statement last week that he will not be using the "F" word, just to be using it. He has already banned some members of his staff from saying it over the air. He ran through 2 practice shows live last week on Wed and Thurs afternoon on Howard 100.
