"Writers group to hold meet-and-greet
The Peace River Center for Writers will hold a "meet-and-greet" evening with adventure-travel writer Tim Cahill from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Punta Gorda Woman's Club, 118 Sullivan St. in Punta Gorda.
A founding editor and now editor-at-large for "Outside" magazine, Cahill is the author of nine books. His first book, "Buried Dreams," a true crime story of serial killer John Wayne Gacy, became a national best-seller, but Cahill is better known for his tales of extreme adventure travel.
The center will have a celebrity book sale following Cahill's talk. Books by Cahill, Thomas McGuane, Randy Wayne White, James W. Hall, Jimmy Buffett and others have been autographed and donated by the authors to be auctioned off to benefit the center.
Admission to the event is $10 per person. Refreshments will be served. Contact the center at (941) 575-1976 for more information."

I'd go if I were in the neighborhood. Cahill's book Road Fever -- about setting the world's record for road travel from southern Argentina to the north slope of Alaska -- is hysterical and amazing.
