I just found out they increased the language requirement for my major. I have to get thru 4 semesters of the same language with at least a c. Foreign language is a weak point for me. When I got my associates I tried french and with alot of effort I got a D. I switched to sign language. I had a hard time there too but managed to get thru two semesters with a C. It's been awhile. I don't know what language to take.
Any thoughts on which is easiest.

I always thought Spanish was the easiest of the Latin-based languages because the pronunciation and spelling are very predictable and straightforward. The memorization and some of the grammar can be challenging...as with all languages.
Good luck!!

try German. everything is spelled just like it sounds, and as I remember (high school was a long time ago) the grammar, etc, wasn't too horrible. I had an easier time with German than with French.

I tried learning Spanish in high school....I passed Spanish I with a C- and Spanish II with a low D. I can understand and speak very little Spanish, which is disappointing because I really wanted to succeed in learning the language.
Definately not one of my strong points either.
Good luck with whatever language you decide on!

I'd say go for spanish. No language will ever be "easy" to learn, but I think spanish is easier to get good grades in. But if you have a passion for a different language..etc, then you have to decide for yourself.
Take Penny's advice.

If you move to another country you might be able to take English as a foreign language.

Although I think English has got be one of the toughest languages to learn. We should feel lucky it is natural for us when I'm sober.

I took 4 semesters of German in college (I had 1 year in H.S.). Penny's right....alot of English words can be similar. I didn't find it hard to learn at all.

I sometimes wave my hands around when I talk. Does that count as speaking Italian?

OCG - take Spanish. It's one of the most popular second languages, simply because of the number of spanish-speaking people in the country now. It is straight forward with grammar and spelling (with the exception of a few things that you will learn quick i.e.: "ll" = "y"). The practical reason is that because of the high number of spanish speaking people you can always practice and learn by speaking to a Spanish speaking friend or by watching one of the many spanish TV stations. Sure, the language may not take you to the most glamorous of places, but it is practical. I use my spanish frequently here in NYC, and I'm not even fluent any longer.

Good advice-take Spanish!
