Was this the first time you saw the forceps Bill?Mr Play wrote:Wow – what a day! We got to the hospital at 6AM. They hooked up the IV, gave her an epidural, and introduced pitocin around 8AM. She started having strong contractions and her water broke within an hour. The doctor arrived at 10:15 and she started pushing. The baby was turned sideways so the doctor had to use forceps to turn and extract him. It was scary for a minute but he came out fine and there were no complications. I don’t care how many times you see it – the miracle of life never loses its maginc. It is an unbelievable experience to witness the birth of a human being.
I was still nervous for the first hour or so, waiting to confirm that everything was ok. So far everything is fine and we expect to bring the baby home tomorrow or Saturday. I’m staying home with the older boys to keep some normalcy for them. My biggest concern right now is making sure that they don’t feel left out or neglected.
Here we are in pre-labor shortly before the induction. I’ll share more pictures in a separate thread.

Was Carson's whole body turned or just his head? Kyle's head was turned sideways but they didn't realize it until we went in for the c-section (after 4 1/2 hours of pushing!). He called it transverse and said the whole body was turned sideways. I leaned in to watch and he twisted the whole body around with them. I could tell he was a little anxious but he kept his cool and did a good job. I saw the doctor right after the circumcision when I got to the hospital this morning. I told him I knew it got a little hairy with the baby's position, and that I thought he did a hell of a job under pressure. Hmm...they told me Kyle was transverse too but I just thought it was his head. Either way, they didn't offer forceps as an option (but again that could have been b/c they didn't know until they went in for the c-section!). I just wish I felt like my OB had explained everything a little better. Can anyone tell I'm getting a little anxious about having another c-section on Tuesday? By the way, I ate coleslaw yesterday (made out of the same thing saurkraut is, right?) and afterwards was having all kinds of contraction-like feelings. I wonder if I had eaten more if I would be in the hospital right now?
