If we all took the Golden Rule to heart (treat others the way you would like to be treated), Dr. King's dream would be realized much more quickly....

We had a whole day of commemorative events for MLK Day here in little old Tifton, including a special speaker at our little downtown theater:
GEORGE BUSH!!!
George
P. Bush, but still!
Hope everyone had a great MLK day!

Here's Dr. King's "I've Been to the Mountaintop" Speech, the very last speech he would give before he was assassinated.

Agreed, Auntie. And isn't it Lee-Jackson-King day in Virginia?

You know, I hate to say this... But I do agree on this... But on the plus side, what normally takes me 45 mins in the morning to get to work only took me a lil under 30, and what usually takes me an hour to an hour and 10 mins, only took me 45 mins to get home tonight.
Gotta sorta love a city that closes a lot of places for the holiday to make your commute a lot easier and less hectic.

I listened to some of the best stuff on NPR today about MLK Day and some of the kids that were some of the first to break the black/white school that included National Guard Troops, bussing, riots and a whole hell of a lot of UGLY s h i t that was never really reported on the news. I was taken back by people, black and white that still have very profound emotional ties to these times and events. There were a lot of tears, happy and sad tears. The program I listened to was called, “An Imperfect Revolution.” Here’s the link:
