Freeprod???

Post by jonesbeach10 »

Apparently, my computer picked up a virus called "freeprod" through aol instant messenger. While the extent of its maliciousness is giving me many random pop-ups, its a real pain in the a$$. :x
Apparently, it attaches itself to startup and loads while everything in the lower-right toolbar loads (volume, time, norton anti-virus, etc.). It may be known as lockbr.exe. Norton Anit-Virus doesn't pick anything up, and my spyware programs picks up whatever it's putting in, but not freeprod itself.

I was wondering if anyone else has gotten this before as I am at my wits end trying to get rid of it.

Never mind. Managed to get rid of it, or at least block it, I think. :)

I had Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta, but since it never picked anything up, I deleted it a couple of months ago. On some whim, I re-installed it. After rebooting the computer, Microsoft wanted to know if I wanted to block the lockbr.exe, which I did. I ran an anti-spyware scan with Microsoft and it picked a couple of things up which I recognized and deleted it. I think (read hope) I'm all good. :D

Big time knock on wood!!!!!!

What is the program? Unfortunately I spoke too soon and it's back.

Sometimes it freezes up the icons on the bottom toolbar also. The frustration level is very high here!

Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
