Dr. John

Post by diamonddan »

Saw him a few years ago when he opened for BB KING. I think I read that he has had some health issues since then. Can he still put on a good show?

I don't know but he's scheduled to perform the "Star Spangled Banner" with Aaron Neville at this year's Super Bore as a tribute to their fallen New Orleans:

DETROIT -- Aaron Neville and Dr. John are bringing the musical flavor of New Orleans to Detroit in Feburary.

The New Orleans natives have been tapped to perform the national anthem before the Super Bowl in February. The selection of the singers is a nod to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy Friday.

"Their participation reflects our commitment to the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast region," McCarthy said.

With the selection, Dr. John and Neville join the likes of Harry Connick Jr., Beyonce Knowles, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, Mariah Carey, Cher and Faith Hill as some of the singers who've perform the national anthem at the Super Bowl.

Other entertainers lined up for the Super Bowl include John Legend, Joss Stone and Stevie Wonder, who will perform Wonder's hits during the pre-game show.

The Rolling Stones will play halftime at the game, set for Feb. 5 in Detroit.
