Dumb Bosses
What is up with some of these so called bosses? My boss called a meeting at 5:00 today until 5:30. I would blow if off but there is only two or threee otheres going to be there and I would sort of be missed. Don't these guys have a life, oh nevermind I just answered my question.

My boss does that all the time..... which is one of the reasons I had an interview today!CrznDnUS1 wrote:What is up with some of these so called bosses? No. No they don't. and I sympathize with you because I've been scr*wed on more than one occasion by an 'emergency' 5pm meeting on a Friday.CrznDnUS1 wrote:What is up with some of these so called bosses? Doesn't even matter that I normally leave at 4, either
Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..
Any boss who schedules a meeting after 4pm on a Friday is just testing his employees.
Which means that he is an ineffective boss if he can't motivate his team without being sneaky (as in this case), threatening or instigating fear of any kind - obvious or not.
On that note, I love the big guys at my company. We have weekly update meetings on Friday afternoons. We moved it up from 3pm to 1:30pm during the summer so that people COULD leave early and have a life. The time has stuck even during the winter.
This is the kind of cool boss that motivates me to always perform above expectation.

It just started snowing pretty hard and I'm getting really antsy to leave... last time we got a big snowstorm, I was stuck on a bus for 2+ hours trying to get home... and that was only half way! I walked the 2nd half of the commute home!
Fortunately, my boss is so dumb that I'm just planning to leave in a half hour and he won't even realize that I'm gone.

Actually when I worked for General Foods back in the '80s they had a summer hours thing from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Come in 30 minutes early and work 15 minutes later each day and we all left at 12:30 on fridays to beat the shore traffic. Those were the good old days. Now a company feels like you should pay them for the privledge to work there. And No i am not getting fiored just have wave an a$$hole for a boss.CadiRita wrote: On that note, I love the big guys at my company. We have weekly update meetings on Friday afternoons. I've been in several of those meetings. My favorite was the time I got a dirty look for leaving at 6:00 so I could get to the shop and get my car before it closed for the weekend. Oh, and then there are the emergency 6:30 am meetings (normal work schedule 8-5).

We have training and/or staff meetings two Wednesdays a month. If it's our day off, or we're just coming off the graveyard shift (6 PM-6 AM), that's tough. We're required to be there.
That being said, I really do like my boss/chief and my immediate supervisor/sergeant.
However, there are three or four of my slug co-workers, who, as far as I'm concerned, can go take a flying f--k at a rolling donut.

All of you: Quit your jobs and hang with me all year. I will be staying with different people just about every week and travel all over the US without having to pay a dime of my own money, I'm supported by the good people here on this sight. C'mon, you know it will be a blast. Who's with me?

Soon as the Boss calls the 5 O'Clock meeting send a meno to EVERYONE about ( or maybe a rumor ) the meeting is to be held at ( name of favorite bar/bup and grill) and don't fail to include the boss is buying. of this helps if you do not originate it on your own computer. ( anyone have access to the boss's computer?)

My Dad's old boss used to have store meetings at, are u ready for this, 6:00 am on a SUNDAY MORNING!!! Don't think it was mandatory but if u did not go, you did not get a full 40 hours for the week. If you did not go, you would get 40 hours minus however the meeting took; usually 2 hours.
