So true. If you want to support your team, especially with a sign, don't come to Philly then. If an outsider (read fan of opposition) doesn't get harrassed, then there's something wrong. PLus, a sign is just a way of making a target, and soft pretzels and beer cups are drawn to targets.
Just a word to the wise.
Yeah I mean they even boo Santa....
we're harsh, even to our own. ask Donovan.

I like to call it passion. everyone is not in agreement, but in the end, it takes a tough player/person to play here. If you're not one of them, we won't like you. That's it. Look at people like Scott Rolen. He wanted out cause he couldn't handle the pressure to perform.

You're right, I should have said SOME of the team's fans were ugly. And it was just verbal, no body touched me. They just threatened to kick my a** but that was ok. Luckily they were almost all gone by the time the game was over. I will say this, and I'm not biased or anything

, but at Panthers games, NOBODY in the section I sit in or surrounding sections, is hollaring anything at the opposing team's fans. Now I'm sure there are some rowdy sections at the stadium where anything might go, as well as drunks who say things they shouldn't, but I've never run into them. Maybe I've just been fortunate to sit in nicer areas but that is just not something I've run into and I've sat right beside, behind and in front of other fans (Dallas fans on Christmas Eve), no body said anything except "good game" or whatever!

When the Phils play the O's it's the league's most vocal and "passionate" fans against the nicest. The o's fans get eaten alive. However, I can't imagine any other situation. The O's fans look like comatose sometimes. I need my passion.

Actually I DID go to the Eagles/ Panthers playoff game and we got the same kind of yelling (it seems like the fav word up North is a**hole) but we actually had Eagle fans in the section we sat in that bought beer for us, said they admired us for being true fans, etc. (Course the guys that were with us had to have security guards follow them in the bathrooms also, but hey, luckily nothing happened).

He's right. On all accounts. Including the pretzels beer cups being drawn to targets.

My reaction varies depending on which of my teams is playing. I am no longer allowed to watch the Gators play in public. When they don't do so well I tend to get angry!

Mike has decided that I have to watch the games at home where if I start throwing things I won't get arrested!

Yeah, that's it. No, one of the guys had worked in NC in the furniture industry for awhile. Maybe he felt a kinship or maybe they just thought they were going to whoop our butts and were feeling really gracious, who knows?!?

Ok, I am feeling better now. Hearing all your sad woes and tales of your teams has help, so Thanks!!! LOL I guess, just knowing I'm not alone (although I've not seen any other Panther fans step up) has helped out also.

I just blame it all on the referee
My team came totally last last year - won only a few games all year - so I am experienced now at the team losing .....
However, I come from a town where just about everyone here supports them - and no one in any other town/city is game enough to approach any of us about a loss - as we are the most passionate town/city in the country in regards to our football team - and this is well know .....
If I can see that the boys gave 110% and were beaten by a better team - I am ok ........
If they slacked off - I am pretty p*** but get on with life pretty quickly.
