Why would anyone build a house with the intention of selling it down the line? We spent years looking for the ideal location and saving money so we would only have to go through this sh*t once. I completely intend to die in the house we are building (hopefully not for another 60 years or so).
Actually, we bought our current house knowing we would be moving in less than 10 years (6 years ago). We didn't want to move away from family, and for the most part, when both sets of our parents retire, we are all picking up and moving together. The house we were in to begin with was poorly built to begin with, so we moved.
Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..

I can see buying a home that you dont' plan to live in forever, but going through the pain in the a$$ of building twice...not me.

I'm 29, and this is my 1st...and last. And it's right where I wanted it to be - in the mountains with no civilization in sight!
Just an FYI for those of you who don't know Frank...This is the ONLY place that would let him buy a house!!! :P

lol.. with the real estate market in this county doing what its doing and the builder connection I had (different than "granite" deal builder) it actually cost us about 65,000 less to build then to buy something comperable

"Oh all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company.

And since it falls, unto my lot, that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, 'Goodnight and Joy be with you all.'"

Still waiting for an answer...

Oh, and I have to commend whoever designed your floor plan. I love the fact that the master bedroom is like 5 feet from the refrigerator. Someone was thinking... :D

What made our final decision was walking into Home Depot and seeing the granite right next to the Corian... the granite looked so much nicer. The Corian just looked to plasticy to me. I am thrilled with the end result. We picked from remnant pieces in the bathrooms which cut down on costs and you can always price 2cm vs 3cm thickness with the granite. We chose a less expensive granite but went for the thicker piece and the rounded edge in the kitchen.
