Bambi was a male deer. Usually the females are better meat. :D
Especially when it's nice and pink on the inside.

Mortons in Boston has been around forever and it seems some of the steaks they've been serving have been around just as long :-?. Grill 23 in Boston also serves a tasty steak (but overpriced)

you draw the line at $12 for more salty, meaty goodness? :D
No I now have to draw the line on what size pants I will have to wear. :o

Has anyone ever eaten at El Gaucho in Aruba? We were there earlier in 05 and thought it was the best meal I've ever had. Something about the beef from Argentina that just tastes better. Not that I would recommend Aruba to anyone after wat happened there, but if you do go... This place is a must visit!! :D

I have had some great steaks in New York:
Shula's
Sparks Steakhouse

Ruth's Chris in Weehawken, NJ was very good as well.

In Fort Worth:
Cattlemen's right next to Billy Bob's.

In the 1970's I would go to dinner at the San Francisco Steak House in HONG KONG (a restaurant which was/is owned by a guy from SWITZERLAND) ( ) VERY delicious steaks.
Obviously, it's been 20-plus years since I've been there, but as for the ones around here, I LOVE Outback Steakhouse (porterhouse steak w/bloomin' onion is tough to beat), Ryans in Cedar Rapids (a Ponerosa-type steak/buffet restaurant) is okay, I've eaten at Lone Star once, and it was pretty good, but the portions were fairly small.
I'm sorry to say, I ate at Ruth Chris' Steakhouse ONCE (in 1994) in Memphis with my wife and her son, and it was by far THE worst service I've ever gotten in ANY restaurant, ANYTIME. I'm sure the others around the country are fine, but that was really the worst dining out experience I've ever had. The waiter took our order, then seemed to forget we even existed.

I'm also one of these guys who love grilling steaks at home w/a baked potato, grilled mushrooms & onions, and a six pack or two of Corona. :D

I used to sell restaurant equipment to Ruth's Chris - don't like them at all. Didn't like them before I had a business relationship with them.

I can't believe no one from Texas has mentioned Hoffbrau in Ft Worth. YUMMY!!!

What's the place in Amarillo that will GIVE their customers a 72 ounce steak FREE if they can eat it in an hour?
I don't think even I could handle that.

If you're in the Chicago area check out Bogart's in Tinley Park

Used to go there when we lived there. Now I see it's got new management so unsure how it is. They seem to be still getting good reviews.
Here in NJ Library. Esp. Library III in Marlton.

I also can't get over that in Chicago they have something called a Buttsteak on the menu. Whenever we'd go to a place with that I'd just get the giggles over it. And their steakhouses serve serving sizes that are like well i don't know, just ridiculously huge.

Ted's Montana Grill, and they can forget ever getting a dime from me again.

When Candy was here for the Cinci concert, she flew in on Saturday. We tried going to Ted's downtown in the Arena District (it's on the way home). They were open, but there was no place to park because the Cirque d' Soleil was set up in the Arena parking lot, thus all the streets were taken (and being cheap, I did not feel like paying $5 bucks to park my car for "event parking" that I was not attending. Strike 1/2.

Monday night, after getting out of the shop, we got to the same restaurant. Sign says, Open x-y:30. We are there at y. Doors are locked a half hour early, and they are closing down completely. Full strike issued here.

Tuesday afternoon, we are heading for the airport, have 2 hours to go before she has to be there, figure "plenty of time to stop at Ted's". Yes, they are open, yes there is parking. So far, so good.
"Where do you want to sit? Inside or outside?"
nice day outside, some breeze, "Outside please?" and off we go.

Sitting there, I have a cigar with me; I have a very attractive, sweet, and intelligent redhead with me; and I have a cold beer on the table. I fire up the cigar. (Keep in mind that Columbus has an indoor smoking ban, but smoking is legal outside). 10 minutes into the cigar, the conversation, the beer, the waitress comes out and says I have to put out the cigar, that "they don't allow smoking". I explain that a) it's legal outdoors; and b) since we are the only two people on the patio, unless Candy is complaining, there should be no issue here. "we don't allow smoking. You have to put it out."

The food had been ordered. There was a check to be cashed. There was not enough time to stop somewhere else on the way to the airport other than a fast food joint and that seemed to lack style. I put out the cigar, we ate lunch, and the waitress received a 5% tip, and I made the promise that I will starve before I eat at Ted's and its fake Out West image ever again.
