With a darker color, you may need two coats, even if the paint is supposed "one-coat coverage" (especially if the primer/wall color is very light), so plan accordingly.
yeah. i'm not looking forward to the cold-ness.

we're planning on two coats.

don't put the paint on thick. several thin coats look better than a thick coat.

Paint the ceiling first. That's the messiest. get one of those pole thingies to screw into your roller (if you have a mop that the handle screws into the mop head that should work) If you don't paint the ceiling TRUST ME it'll look like crap against freshly painted walls.

Don't roll all the way up to the ceiling when doing the walls - leave about 2" and then brush it to cut it into the ceiling - using one of those painters straight edge plastic thingies helps tremendously. Also since you're doing

NEVER USE MASKING TAPE - use the blue painters tape and IT'S WORTH THE TIME. Just be sure to remove it after the paint dries a little but isn't completely dry.

DAMNIT - I'm getting in the mood to paint again but no energy

The ceiling isn't getting painted. It's one of those lame popcorn ceilings and we're keeping it white. :-?

We have gobs of blue painter's tape.

I'll come paint for you Conniemom!

and then hopefully go to Orlando in Sept and do another cross country drive.

I dunno - but I was told to NOT get another pup cause he wants one of his own. And I know he's been thinking about moving up here.

Will the mountain passes be open at the end of sept?? :-?

Most of them will be open. Some are only open Memorial Day to Labor Day though. Any specific ones in mind?

ACTUALLY HE DID!!!! He asked me if I could do anything with his house what would I do and I said - bulldoze it and start over.

But the house really does have character - it's just stuck in the 60's. Well except for the gameroom. I've got 70's red and black shag carpet in there with a bar that's not complete. :o The bar itself is too wide - leaving no backbar room at all. I'm gonna demo that bar and build a new one with at least a freaking bar sink in there. The plumbing is there for it - it was just never put in.

Yep. Normally the hard stuff over Lookout and Snoqualmie don't get bad until mid to late October or so with the first storm of the season. Fourth of July is not too bad either, but to be honest: Snoqualmie is the one that needs watching most.

Shag carpet rocks. I wanted to do our whole house in shag...walls, ceilings, everything. It'd be like a 2300 sq ft van, how cool would that be?

On a related note, I'm no longer allowed to make any decisions regarding the house.

That's the one I'm most worried about. I live not too far from Snoqualmie. Maybe 30-45 minute drive. I don't own chains. I just stay away from the mountains right now.
